I think? Green Man was closed to make way for a new staircase for the car park in Carillion court when they refurbed the centre. Staircase was built where the entrance was and there was no other way to build a new opening to the pub. Sophies Bar was another place. 'Next door', upstairs at the Casablanca. The Lord Nelson had just closed down before I started drinking in Loughborough, that was in the market place next to the jitty to the public toilets, it became Dorothy Perkins. Memories best left there some of them!

Green Man is still there and intact and looks just like it did the day it closed just a bit dustier cant get a licence as its a fire hazard and no fire escape Health and safety wont allow it

Memories best left there some of them! I can remember the Lord Nelson, like you hadn't started drinking in Luff before it became Dotty Perkins wasnt it meant to be the oldest pub in Luff aswell ?

promised land Posted 28 July 2016 Posted 28 July 2016 those pics look like just after closing time on a regular Friday night down there. They've been in the Echo a few times IIRC,they just go in every so often to check everything's structurally sound and the like. Given the chance, I'd go down.
