Hullfox Posted 27 September 2005 Author Posted 27 September 2005 Does this really bother anyone though? We are a city famous for its ethnic population. I love living here and it makes me laugh that people sing that as an insult to us, when I think it's one of the city's main qualities. I assume therefore that you are white. It's not really an offensive chant, but because it's meant as offensive, we are offended by it. (does that make sense ?) If I was a QPR fan, I would be laughing at the Leicester fans as in fact the bombers were all from the Leeds area anyway I believe. It's no different to the Munich chanting to Man Utd, jobless thieves chanting to Scousers, Hull being full of dockers and Grimsby fans smelling of fish etc etc..... Not sure anyone ever died from being jobless, a docker or smelling of fish though. It's just terrace humour - harsh, not very subtle and extremely Un-PC........gotta love it :-) Not really sure that those doing the singing are actually that clever to be humorous. They were (in my opinion) doing it for all the wrong reasons whilst they were safely protected by distance and officials. BTW Thanks for the welcome - much appreciated. Keep posting
TrickyTrev Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 Yeah we've had it a few times but dont kick up such a fuss. How many times have awayers sung "Your just a town full of Pakis" to us ...maybe one of the reasosns that there are so few asians attending our great game. I wouldn't listen to a song that made me feel like a second class citizen.
Sir JJ Wilcox Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 I can't see how chanting "Your just a town full of bombers is rascist anyway" its damn unsensitive rude obnoxious and abusive but i don't feel its rascist

Ric Flair Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 I can't see how chanting "Your just a town full of bombers is rascist anyway" its damn unsensitive rude obnoxious and abusive but i don't feel its rascist Your not wrong. There have been plenty of white bombers in the past.
TrickyTrev Posted 27 September 2005 Posted 27 September 2005 I've heard people be racist about white people before, doesn't bother me. I hate all this racist business, I can't see why people can't all get along. Names don't hurt me and I wish they didn't hurt other people. I wish the world could change the past and that the cruel racism that went on many years ago never happened because there are alot of people out there in the world that aren't racist yet they might make a few comments that would indicate they are. Abit like someone calling someone a fat bastard and then being branded fatist. I know what went on means that these remarks are very hurtful but it does annoy me sometimes that some things are seen as acceptable and others aren't. Can I also point out that there are alot of asians and black people that are racist about white people, yet it doesn't seem to hold the same offensiveness. Sounds like a contradiction to me. As for the first highlighted point, would you go to a sporting occasion or a music gig if you thought a small section of a 80% Asian crowd were singing derogotary things about white people? I wouldn't because I would feel threatened and unwanted.
