smr Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 So it's my Birthday today (yay - sarcasm) - went to the local Chinese and then to get a bottle of wine, hoping to come back and watch a film. Then when I got back I heard the news so instead I've been on my phone, facebook, here, on the phone to my Dad and now writing on here. Now, I've been to every home game this season, and watched every away game (apart from Everton FA Cup and Millwall - couldn't find a stream for the former and was out with my boys for the latter listening to Radio Leicester. And we have been piss poor - Apart from Man City at home and the second half last night. We have played looking lost, disorganized, without any fight, character, determination, strategy, tactics, you name it. Bizarre, but that's how it's been, which you all know cos you've all seen it for yourselves. Last year was amazing, Claudio is a legend for us for that, and always be. But that season is done, it was done a few weeks after lifted that trophy. It was unbelievable, amazing, out of this world, all the superlatives you've already heard. But this season has been anything but. Yes the players have been piss poor - but even if Ranieri has managed them properly, and done everything right - they've still been piss poor - we're still in massive danger of getting relegated - despite the apparent resurgence in our former Foxes spirit we displayed the second half last night. Yes, the timing is cruel - but for Claudio it could be a blessing in disguise - instead of winning the league for us and being relegated - tarnishing his image - he'll be remembered as someone who won us the league, and they departed - before (hopefully) our new manager keeps us up - reputation - story all in tact. But the fact is, whatever has caused the performances to be utterly shit this season, something had to change. If Claudio had have stayed and we got relegated everyone, and I mean everyone would be saying - well the owners should have changed the manager. And if you are a proper fan, and not that plastic fantastic fan who rang in from Countesthorpe on the Forum earlier, you know exactly how gruelling, hard and ****ing shit it feels being in the Championship. Claudio had to go because there were bad performances, it doesn't matter who was to blame for them - whether the players should have done more, which they should have, or whether the manager was at fault for strange tactical decisions, formations, player selections and losing the dressing room (which all sounds like it happened) Put it this way, if we hadn't won the league last year, do you seriously think the owners would've kept him for this long this season? Look at our goals scored this year (number of). Look at the record of the worst performing league clubs this season. Look at the bench when we scored last night (Sevilla may as well have scored a third is how ****ing bizarre that was)... look at Claudio just standing there on his own for the last few games (why?) why wasn't Shakespeare even standing with him ? He lost the backing of the players AND the backroom staff - for whatever reason we don't fully know. But you have to be blinkered if you see it otherwise. We cannot get relegated, the players would be off, we'd go back to square one, and all the hard work and achievements last season would be tarnished. The Premier League is everything for our club right now, and never in our history has it been so important to stay here. Would Chelsea be on top of the Premier League now if Jose wasn't sacked? Or should they have kept him through sentiment alone, most probably languishing this season as well? Claudio's management last season was without question - and I'll always remember him for being an absolute legend, I won't remember this season but I'll remember the one where he won us the Premier League. Thanks Claudio, and all the best.
Dr The Singh Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Happy Birthday, did you wish for CR to get sacked when you blew the candles of your cake?

lcfcdamo Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 Any one saying they made the wrong decision are completely wrong and being blinded by last year dont get me wrong i will always love him for wot he did but the owners are 100% right in there decision
JamesWelshFox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 I will always love Claudio for what he achieved with us last season, and because I could watch a press conference without hiding behind a cushion wondering who Pearson was gonna deck next ! However, as an owner I would have done this sooner albeit with a heavy heart, because we have been but a shadow this season. has he been let down by players, that would be a big YES, but as manager your job is to find the answer to that problem and he hasn't looked like he knew where to start. All very sad, but the owners had little choice. My thanks to Claudio, but I respect the owners for making what must have felt a pretty horrible decision.
HybridFox Posted 23 February 2017 Posted 23 February 2017 I've said before, I believe we have the best owners in the Premier League. Completely had the club's best interests at heart ever since taking over. Made strong decisions in the past with Sven and Nigel, both turning out to be good ones. In hindsight, let's hope they have made the right call here too. It's easy for us fans to say but they did the hard part. It must have been heartbreaking for them to look Claudio in the eye and tell him it was over. Let's cut some slack and back them. We have 13 games left to play...(if not more!)
