Mark Posted 3 September 2004 Posted 3 September 2004 Ive never really watched him play & i was just wondering is he any good ? Next Izzet ? 16904 In a word, no - thats to him being the next Izzet  He's average i think but he impressed Scowy at the reserves game so..
Scow Posted 3 September 2004 Posted 3 September 2004 Ive never really watched him play & i was just wondering is he any good ? Next Izzet ? 16904 No, not quite the next Izzet. He's more of a holding player in front of the back 4. Very comfortable on the ball and uses it intelligently. He also takes some good set pieces. Perhaps not the fastest, but he does seem technically sound. I think Dawson is better though.
Buzzell Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 So who have we got in the reserves/youth team that could actually make it??
alex Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Stearman, Dawson, Wright, Petrescu, Weslowski (although the last two still need time...IMO)
Buzzell Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Do you think any of them will actually make it?
Highland Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 From what I've seen of him Stearman has really impressed me.
alex Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Do you think any of them will actually make it? 17146 I think so - to be honest Petrescu is the man who has seen more - but Stearman in particular looks great. I had high hopes for Wright, but he let himself down at Brentford really, whereas when Matt Heath went to Stockport he was rated so highly that he got a chance on his return.

I wish i didnt have to read people judging him on last season all the time. Wright, Dawson, Stearman are the players ready now i feel, but Micky isnt going to give them a chance for you all to see that. Wesolowski and Logan should be ready for next season. Petrescu would make it if he started making the extra effort. Porter is a great little player but his lack of height may harm his progress - at this club. Dodds and Graham have been goal machines for the last few seasons at youth level, as the academy staff say - these pair are the best strikers you'll see at academy level at any club, not been given a chance at reserve team level though as yet so cant really say but they both have the potential. Bit unsure about O'Grady and Butcher.
Sparky Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 i think the only young player that could cope at this level and at this time is tommy wright . i think butcher is a superb player as is stearman but need a bit of time to progress

I wish i didnt have to read people judging him on last season all the time. Oh, how predictable!!! But one thing is for sure - it's definitely time for Tommy to get his chance in the first team - either he'll claim a regular place and start to knock in a few goals for us, or he'll be "like he was at Brentford" which was, quite frankly, not good enough and then hopefully Mr. Petrescu will finally have to SHUT UP about it! Micky isnt going to give them a chance for you all to see that. :sigh: WHY are you so bitter about it? Come on man, get over it!
Oli Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Has Petrescu got any international caps for Finland? If he has played at the international stage, then he should be ready shouldnt he?
Mark Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Has Petrescu got any international caps for Finland? If he has played at the international stage, then he should be ready shouldnt he? 17277 Only at youth level. He got called upto the Finland U-19's last week.
