If you have a hotmail or google email account then you can read it online (email the document to yourself)  or you could just convert the document to the format that you can read?  Try http://www.zamzar.com/

Try some opensource software like Libraoffice.

I use either OpenOffice which is a free version of office or use google drive, open the docx and then save file as...
