lostfaith Posted 4 September 2004 Posted 4 September 2004 I'm new to this forum so if this has already been discussed please forgive me. My son & I are season ticket holders, but for the Brighton game I decided to take my 12 year old daughter I was gob-smacked when at the ticket office I was charged £17 for a ticket for a 12 year old member for a televised match against a poor team with a morning kick-off. This coupled with the £5 car park charge at Saffron Lane Sports stadium, which was only £2 last year in the Premier league. What’s going on at the club? Don’t they won’t to play in front of large crowds? How is a normal working man expected to introduce his children to live football at those prices? I believe the club should admit they got the match day pricing for this season very wrong and reduce their prices. Lost Faith

Lost Faith 17010 It has been mentioned but don't apologise as you're entitled to feel very agrieved. I'm afraid unless you've got a season ticket - this will season will go down in the annuls of LCFC as the year of the The Great Rip Off. I think they were so expecting to do well on the pitch that only few people would moan - How wrong could they be PS You should send a complaint to - unless lots of people complain they'll think we're all happy to fork out this obscene sums of money. Enjoy the football - you know it's worth it ::
Mad Dog Posted 4 September 2004 Posted 4 September 2004 I have a season ticket and took my 15 year old brother to the Brighton game - £17? Disgusting.
Hullfox Posted 4 September 2004 Posted 4 September 2004 To play Devil's Advocate here, I've just paid £15 for my Rotherham ticket which I think is a low price. However, as a club they are in a self perpetuating downward spiral in terms of personnel and ground, it really is a shithole. The law of economics come into play here. People can protest by using their prerogative not to go, that way the club will listen eventually. Chelsea are now experiencing empty seats for the first time in ages, last year I paid £57 to go and watch them against Arsenal (Now that's high pricing). However, having exercised our right not to go, when the time comes again when Premier League football beckons we should not complain if the club raise prices and fills the stadium. It is a difficult situation and I understand peoples feelings about high prices but at least the club have made a gesture this week on the cashback offer for the Ipswich game. Whether it's enough or not we'll have to wait and see. Also, too many offers across a season negates the value that season ticket holders get for parting with their money up front. Offers like kids for a quid are alright to an extent but can affect demand for tickets as people hold back waiting for these games and may be dissuaded from paying full price. My opinion is that the club would rather see 500 kids paying £17 then 8500 paying a quid.
Marcoos Posted 4 September 2004 Posted 4 September 2004 Indeed, but this shows such shortsightedness. Those 8500 paying a quid are likely to spend more on programmes, food, drink etc. Therefore more cash received plus a fuller stadium I don't think this is rocket science

What proportion of that proportion would have done the same as well as paying £17 for a ticket? You're right, the answer isn't rocket science, it's economics and business management which I doubt that many of us on this board have a masters in. If seats are continually sold cheaply, I for one will expect a part refund on my season ticket cost.
Guest Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 With regards parking charges, £5 is about average for other grounds. Besides, anyone living in Leicester shouldn't have to use their cars.
Cat Burger Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Why park in the saffron stadium when you can park in the streets nearby anyway. We Always got a place last season whether we were late or not! probably because I'm Stingy by nature though
Sparky Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 shouldnt be hard to find a parking space when were getting gates of 20000 <_< the club have had some shocking pricing decisions this season already and that is a big reason for the low gates , even that tournament ripped us off
Mad Dog Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Why don't you just park at the Safeway or cinema? it's free and is closer than most of the other car parks anyway?
Scow Posted 5 September 2004 Posted 5 September 2004 Why don't you just park at the Safeway or cinema? it's free and is closer than most of the other car parks anyway? 17246 I think they're cracking down on that now. As I was walking to the game against Brighton, there were officials stopping cars at the entrance ascertain whether they were football fans or not.
