Guest Posted 3 February 2019 Posted 3 February 2019 Read a few comments about us being lucky that the Premier league is so poor and other general derogatory comments as excuses for us being in the fight to finish top 8. Also often hear the comment about the Premier league being the best in the world - especially from foreign football supporters. My question for you all is how do you view the Prem? Is it really any weaker than before? Could it be that we are simply better than we have been for many decades? Do you feel that the gap between the top 6 is widening and do you think this will continue or will the top 6 come back to the pack? Are the weaker teams in the league getting weaker? Is the Prem pulling away from the championship or are the championship teams as good as all but the top 6?
Fox92 Posted 3 February 2019 Posted 3 February 2019 It's where the money is. I get fed up of "ohhh Celtic/Rangers/random foreign club wouldn't be near the top 6 of the PL" - it's a load of rubbish. If these clubs (especially Celtic/Rangers) had the money that English clubs get they'd be top 4 never mind top 6. The size of the club, fanbase, history combined with the money they'd be massive pulls for players. It's not the "best league in the World". Sky say it is. Surely if it was that good then more English clubs would win the Champions League? It's overrated for me... however, do I want to be in it? Yes. I couldn't take being stuck in the Championship again.
Dan Posted 3 February 2019 Posted 3 February 2019 I've thought for years it's over-rated although do think the teams at the top have gotten better. We've spent years being exposed on the continent though, usually by the Spanish. It's full of wildly inconsistent sides.
