Wilf hands down for me at the moment. Nobody in the league except Kanté matched his defensive midfield abilities. We always look a worse team with him out or played out of position.

 

Schmeichel has a more than able deputy in Ward.

 

We lost Barnes for half of last season and still created plenty. We're definitely a better team with him in it, but it's not the end of the world when he isn't in the XI.

 

I'd say Evans is a big loss right now but in terms of losing him permanently I'm not remotely worried about that. The imminent Vestergaard signing convinces me that we will at least have options until Little Wes is back.

 

Tielemans is probably second to Wilf right now in terms of irreplacability for his box to box playmaker role - his ability to pick a key pass is sublime and we all know well that he can yeet one into the top corner if needed too. However, I do think we have a promising potential future replacement in KDH, who I imagine will get plenty of 20-30 min cameos this season for Youri at the end of games in anticipation of more serious bids next summer. Likewise, an on-form Maddison ( who is going nowhere this window btw) can pick up the playmaking slack if Tielemans has an off day.
