I just came across this article in Four Four Two about a City fan who's basically followed City through Europe travelling only by train. Interesting.

"Which Leicester City hero has got the loudest cheer this season? Vardy? Ndidi? The almighty Albrighton? Or maybe it’s Ant Bates, whenever the non-flying fan has staggered into a foreign bar after another freakishly long journey.

Bates (pictured above, left) has become the Dennis Bergkamp of Foxes fans, trundling overland to various European ties because aeroplanes are out, due to childhood illnesses. “After one of the operations they discovered a blood clot, so I can’t fly,” he tells FFT. “It’s OK, though – I find another way…”

But that way doesn’t involve the TV or a sofa – this season, Bates has spent no fewer than 122 hours on trains in his bid to follow Leicester away from home in Europe this season. A 34-hour round trip to see the Foxes lose 1-0 at Legia Warsaw in September didn’t put him off – he was back roaming the continental rail network three months later, spending 36 hours travelling for a match at Napoli which ended with his team dropping from the Europa League to the Conference League.

That meant another 36 hours of travel for their match against Randers in Denmark, before a sweet 16 for the next round at Rennes. He makes the most of it by taking in other games…"
