Scow Posted 21 September 2004 Posted 21 September 2004 Link - Official Site Scot Gemmill says he is hoping to convince Micky Adams he is worth an extended stay at the Walkers Stadium. The 33-year-old former Nottingham Forest and Everton midfielder has made just one start for the Foxes since signing a three-month contract in August. A thigh injury has somewhat curtailed the Scotsman's chances of action - but after Gareth Williams was forced to leave the field with a toe injury against Burnley he is keen to win a starting berth. He said: "I would like a run, but I have to accept that there are other players waiting for their chance, like Joey Gudjonsson. "I am not naive enough to think I would go straight in and, even though I have been on the bench more, the manager signed Joey and obviously thinks he is a good player, which I know he is having played with him in the reserves last week and he will be hoping to get into the side as well. "Of course, I would like to get in. That's what I am here for, to prove I can play for the team. "The three-month contract is a funny spell but I was grateful for it at the time and hope to convince the manager to keep me until the end of the season." Although he has done Ok so far, I don't think we need him. I would rather use the money to ensure we can secure the deal of Harper. (once he's fit) We also have Stephen Dawson who can play in the centre of midfield, who definitely deserves his chance after impressing in the reserves this season.
Guest Posted 21 September 2004 Posted 21 September 2004 I'm unsure about Gemmill. He's done ok when he's come on, and at times steadied the ship a bit. But he's not been inspirational. However, is it inspiring the team wants, or a hard working battler? IMO, it's both!

Hullfox Posted 21 September 2004 Posted 21 September 2004 He doesn't strike me as someone whose career depends on his performance.
Mark Posted 21 September 2004 Posted 21 September 2004 Forget him. I'm sure we'll keep him on but he aint worth the hassle in paying more wages out. Gemmill has no future, Dawson does. Answer = Forget Gemmill. Though i'm sure Mickys will differ to mine..
Ash Posted 21 September 2004 Posted 21 September 2004 I like Gemmill but i dont think we should keep him .We ahve other Midfielders that are better than him . Offer him a coaching role Micky
Anish Posted 21 September 2004 Posted 21 September 2004 Use Gudjohnsson in central midfield. We haven't seen the best of him as Micky has played him out of position and not given him a decent run in the team. At least Gudjohnsson also has a good shot on him and is willing to get stuck into the tackles.
Buzzell Posted 21 September 2004 Posted 21 September 2004 I wouldnt give Gemmil a fulltime contract, I would ratehr see Gujonnsenn in the middle of the park. Gemmil has lost it, Gudjonnsenn hasnt, he's still got time in him.
