Jonbluefox9 Posted 11 December 2005 Author Posted 11 December 2005 Russell Hoult, Carl Muggleton and Ian Andrews were all reasonable keepers at one time or another. Russell Hoult was even rumoured to be near the England squad about 18 months ago. Couldn't see it myself, however. I just wonder what the club have been doing in the last ten years to try and produce another local goalkeeper good enough to challenge for the first team? Thracian said "To train top goalkeeper's you have to have one at the club." although if that philosophy is true then it should be true that "To train very good goalkeeper's you have to have one at the club." Many people have agreed that we've had very good keepers in the last decade (Walker, Flowers, Keller etc) so why hasn't that helped our club train a very good young keeper? Tbh, I used to watch Conrad Logan for the academy about three or four seasons ago and he looked a decent prospect, he was the skipper of the team too, but I think he's reached his level now. He worked under Tim Flowers for a season when he was made goalkeeping coach so if he hasn't learnt a lot from him then there's not much hope for him.
The People's Hero Posted 11 December 2005 Posted 11 December 2005 We missed out big time on Kirkland but as has already been said, he was from a family of Cov supporters, so naturally opted to play for them. Not us.
