Last two prior to KDH and Barnes were Chilwell and Jeff. Both largely booed and/or disrespected each week. 

Our fans seem only too ready to turn 'on their own' - Thomas seems the latest to be singled out for widescale criticism; hamza has had more than his fair share; christ, even KDH was starting to get shit from fans last year.

Centre half is a position you don’t tend to take too many risks with - ideally you want a settled and regular pairing and of course you don’t substitue them in game that often either… so it makes giving Nelson a chance a little trickier.

 

Alves on the otherhand - the positon(s) he plays gives him more scope to get in the matchday squad and then game time if deemed good enough - you almost always change one of your wingers.
