It’s called marking your own homework, these lot are bulletproof, owner is blind to it and has no balls. Whatever review they came up with and the objectives set as a result, well, they’ve failed miserably again.

Yep, as a starting point that shows that if the likes of Bournemouth, Fulham, Brentford and Palace can become established PL clubs then so can we.

Unfortunately the gate receipts, whilst useful, even coupled with merchandise and hospitality aren’t the sole income.  There’s last seasons prize money, Brighton for example earned a lot more than us and TV money.

Then there’s the state of the squads and management staff. None of those clubs have guys like a recent 20-25 million pound signing, a 4th choice ex Liverpool goalkeeper and an on-loan CF all not making the match day squad but picking up bloated wages. Palace did have one but fobbed him off on us :frusty:

All things being equal, starting from scratch we’re well positioned to become established again based on that table but unfortunately, and what the review should be saying, we have made bad decision after bad decision that drags us back from leaving the starting grid and have players not fit for purpose that no one else will take from us as they can’t / won’t match their salary expectations. Our “starting point” is therefore compromised, whereas other clubs have ranks of hungry, improving players we have Vestergaard, Coady and Winks.

The board were apparently shocked at that relegation, thought they’d done enough to guarantee (there is no such thing) staying in the PL whilst we could all see us sleepwalking into it. The review had to call out some of the ridiculous contract decisions and therefore point fingers in certain directions yet those people are still here, still making poor decisions and left us in our most crucial transfer window in our history pot-less with no wiggle room for a player “significantly better” than what we have.

Sell 32,000 tickets, have more Hermandsons, Fatawus and El Khannousses than Skipps and DeCordova Reid’s and we’ll be headed in the right direction but we have Vestergaard and Skipp on our books for years yet, you can’t just sack them, it’s going to be worse before it’s better by which time Mads and next summer a fit Fatawu may have gone anyway.

So the inquest into what went wrong when we got relegated 2 years ago has not been published.

No suprise there, as it would involve calling out the failings of the people still in charge.

My gripe is that of the current premiere league clubs, the ones lsited below have a smaller ground capacity than us and we fill ours most weeks.

Therefore they also have a smaller income from gate receipts, yet they are able to invest in the team and steer clear of PSR.

If this does not highlight the incompetance of those running the club, then we are truly doomed to the old days of a yo-yo team

Could you request the report/files of the inquest with the freedom of information act?

I believe its only access to public stuff like schools and stuff.  Not private companies like the club.
