Jordan Posted 2 January 2006 Posted 2 January 2006 Does anybody else here like The Fall? I've not heard most of their stuff (I mean, they've been around for almost 30 years andhave had dozens of different lineups, so it'd be hard to anyway), but I picked up "50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong" last year and it seemed like a good primer into Mark E. Smith's eccentric musical career. I got a copy of their new album, "Fall Heads Roll," and it's pretty good (well, I'm not too crazy about the first two tracks). The Fall's signature repetition is still there but there's less experimentation. The last song, "Trust in Me," is f**kin' great. It's a good rockin', pulsating song and instead of Smith's maaahhnchesstarrr accent, a different singer (I don't know who) is used. I've heard a few songs from The Fall's past Peel Sessions, and it sounds good to me (it probably doesn't to most people ) so I might have to look for their compilation of all their Peel Sessions.
Nationwider Posted 2 January 2006 Posted 2 January 2006 Yes, I do. I've not heard much of their stuff, but what I have heard (from Peels old festive 50s) I really like - Glam Racket, Why Are People Grudgeful, Middle Class revolt - singles really. I was hoping to get "50,000..." for Xmas, but no-one took the hint. The box-set of Peel Sessions looks amazing, but I'm not ready to invest just yet. Will definitely get the new album if you reckon its worth it - I've read more than one print review saying its their best yet. The trouble is that with a band thats been around for so long, its difficult to qualify a statement like that.
stez Posted 2 January 2006 Posted 2 January 2006 i have a fall album (best of......... ) and its ok, i got it because of mark e. smith being on the inspiral carpets 'i want you' and mark riley (of mark and lard fame ) being a member in the early days
