Frenzied Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Just had a phone call telling that I've got a place in this year's London marathon - bloody hell - 26 miles of pain. Anyway, I'm running for a charity called Refuge and need to raise £2000. They're sending me a sponsorship pack which has a website where you can sponsor me and I'll post this as soon as I get it (if that's ok with the mods). Would be very grateful for any donations.
Guest Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Good luck! Make sure you have plenty of plasters and Vaseline ready!

Hitesh Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Good Luck! Hope it all goes well for ya. Also, Vicks helps! Do a Vieira and rub rub it on your t-shirt!
Frenzied Posted 6 January 2006 Author Posted 6 January 2006 Thanks for the support I might wear my LCFC shirt but a bit concerned about the old joggers nipple.
Shum Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Heehee, I had that at the gym this morning! It's awful is joggers nipple! Stick a plaster on each nip mate!

The People's Hero Posted 9 January 2006 Posted 9 January 2006 We're going for the Robin Hood later in the year, if you're interested? Erm... excuse my ignorance, but what is it? I assume it's some sort of run, perhaps in Nottingham?
Guest Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Erm... excuse my ignorance, but what is it? I assume it's some sort of run, perhaps in Nottingham? The Robin Hood Marathon, yes 'tis in Nottingham. Undulating at the start and fairly flat thereafter, so I've been told.
Frenzied Posted 10 January 2006 Author Posted 10 January 2006 Erm... excuse my ignorance, but what is it? I assume it's some sort of run, perhaps in Nottingham? There are still places on the London marathon, if you're still interested. I've just had a call telling me so. Just go to the Flora Marathon website and fill in the forms for the two charities advertised - hopefully they'll get back to you. Try Cancer Research's website as well.

A friend and I wanted to run it for the trust which we have set up. We donate annually to charities which specialise in care for those with cancer and support for their families. If I'm honest, I've done such little exercise in the last 3 months that I'm not sure I could manage the marathon anyway. No one told me that getting a job would take up so much of my time! Anyway, best of luck to anyone doing anyone kind of physically strenuous event and especially those of you who will be raising money for worthy causes. As soon as payday (25th Jan) is upon us, I will be doing some donating, so please do keep this thread complete with link, near the top? Perhaps a sticky?
Guest Posted 23 January 2006 Posted 23 January 2006 How's the training going, Frenzied? Any blisters yet?
BristolBasedFox Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 How's the training going, Frenzied? Any blisters yet? Good luck Frenzied, I was lucky enough to get in via the ballot last year, it's a fantastic event, hard work (obviously) but great fun. Go for it .... keep us updated on your training.
Frenzied Posted 26 January 2006 Author Posted 26 January 2006 How's the training going, Frenzied? Any blisters yet? Not bad thanks. No blisters yet either - got these special socks. Although one of my knees is a bit messed-up but nothing serious. I'm doing about three 8 mile runs a week and playing football once a week which helps. Going to start increasing the distance soon and will do a couple of 20 milers at the end of March beginning of April.

Got quite a lot of people coming to support me on the day, which will be good.
