New Players?

It has all gone really quiet on the rumour front. We had about a week when everyone was speculating on what striker we were goona get. We got one then everyone shut up. Didn't Levein say that he was looking to get a couple of players in Jan, and if we got through the FA Cup against Spurs, we would be able to get a couple more?? I presume Levein didn't expect us to get through, so had no plans for getting anyone in??

Dunno, maybe the board told him not to phone scottish numbers so he decided not to bother. Or something like that...

We've got the players for the job anyway. We just need to play the right ones in the right positions. If you were the board, would you give money (which is extremely sparse on the ground right now) to someone you may have to sack soon, or may resign at the end of the season (wishful thinking...)

From the Mockery!

Levein still in the hunt for recruits by Andy Mann

fryatt_vSheffWeds_19-01-06.gifThe arrival of any more new faces at Leicester City during the transfer window could depend on Craig Levein moving other players out.

The City boss and his coaching squad are still on the look-out for players to strengthen the squad for the fight against relegation.

And Levein has not ruled out another move into the transfer market before January 31.

Since the window opened, City have signed striker Matty Fryatt from Walsall for an undisclosed fee.

"We are still having a look around," said Levein. "It might be that to do anything else I might have to move people on.

"But I am still keeping an eye out and seeing if there's anyone we can strengthen with."

Fryatt, 19, is set to make his home debut on Saturday against Cardiff, when he is likely to link up with England youth international colleague Ryan Smith.

Smith is set to return to the starting line-up after being suspended for last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Midfielder Joey Gudjonsson will miss out though, as he serves the last part of a two-match suspension. Winger Momo Sylla is away with Guinea at the African Cup of Nations and Danny Tiatto has a hamstring injury.

The absence of Gudjonsson could open the way for teenage midfielder James Wesolowski, who came through his first 90 minutes in the reserves on Tuesday since breaking his leg in the summer.

It is understood Wesolowski, who had forced his way into Levein's thoughts before his injury in the pre-season friendly against Celtic, has had no adverse reaction and will be included in the City squad.

Levein said: "Part of the problem on Saturday was that we had five midfield players that we couldn't select for various reasons. With James and Ryan, we have two players to add to the squad, which is pleasing."

It is also hoped that Richard Stearman, who was forced off at Hillsborough with a dead leg, will have recovered in time.

So was Levien talking from his anus then?? Cos I can't see that Fryatt would have taken all of his funds away, wages specifically?

We keep getting linked with that McNaughton I think his name is at Aberdeen, seems a CL type of player hes in his early twentys and he is out of contract in the summer, and has told Aberdeen that he isn't going to sign a new one so I would think he'd would be cheap ... I think I remember rightly he had a trial with a London club recently (can't remember which one) but they didn't want him ... don't hold me to that

Whether we want another SPL player is another matter !
