When the Russians got into Germany, Hitler ordered his troops to burn the city and leave the Russians nothing, buildings/documents/food nothing When Napoleon attacked Russia, the Russians retreated, burning the villages, food supplies etc leaving the French Army nothing at all what the hell is the word given for the name of this tactic? thanks....

Ransack? Plunder? Lay waste? Sack? Although I get the feeling it's none of them, I can see it now scream from the newspaper headlines.

Was really annoying me last night though i'm someone who gets really restless when i cant think of a word/name
