Disillusioned Posted 8 March 2006 Posted 8 March 2006 How can you possibly compare the 2!!?? He wasted 20 million! Levein has dropped wage bill, we've got younger squad, McCarthy, Hume, Fryat,.. i don't need to go through the squad. I would definitely give him a football job here again. And at Championship level. As long as he got help from someone. Very easily, you Levein lacky. The easy answer would be to say that they are as bad as each other. In fact there is enough to suggest that Levein is even worse than Taylor and that had he gone on any longer he would probably have emerged as the WORST MANAGER IN THE CLUB'S HISTORY. I'll save the gory details for now because I want to go into the reasons why a perverse hard core of fans gave Levein such an easy ride. It's interesting that we are talking about Sunderland. Somewhat belatedly the SFC board have decided to sack another 'popular' manager in Mick McCarthy. It simply beggars belief that a manager of a club as big as Sunderland could escape censure for the worst team performance not only in the history of the Premiership but also in the history of top flight football. Especially when you consider that Peter Reid got it in the neck for masterminding the club's post top flight finish since the war (7th). So what's it all about Alfie? Expectations, expectations, expectations. Fans can delude themselves about players, systems and tactics but really when it comes to the crunch most supporters are as rational and as logical as hyperactive redheads with PMT... ...or in the case of LCFC fans, menopausal nymphomaniacs...
Chrysalis Posted 9 March 2006 Posted 9 March 2006 both taylor and levein were poor here but the difference is taylor was playing at a higher level so the fact his failure occured at the higher level and many people seen us as a club above our natural level anyway he was still employable. Craig almost took us down to our lowest position in our history so as such would be taking us below our natural level so I would say his employability in english league football is pretty low now.

Leicester City Posted 9 March 2006 Posted 9 March 2006 You really are taking what i said too seriously. All i said was that i believe, like our friend from Hull, that Craig Levein can be a success in England. He can see a good player and i think he says the right things, he just wasn't ready for a club as big as ours.
