newms Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Seriously what could anyone seen from his performance at Leicester that should give him a chance at another future championship club. Signed a good few youngsters but signed rubbish aswell and would have got us relegated Levein
Jamesino_LCFC Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 it would be amazing if that man got a new job, Anywhere!
l444ry Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Seriously what could anyone seen from his performance at Leicester that should give him a chance at another future championship club. Signed a good few youngsters but signed rubbish aswell and would have got us relegated Levein 34/1 on Betfair at the time of writing. Peter Reid could be worth a look though at the same price.....
ThurmastonFox Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 I would be surprised if Levein got a job again in English football.
l444ry Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 I would be surprised if Levein got a job again in English football. Peter Taylor is still held in high regard so anything is possible!!!!
Leicester City Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Peter Taylor is still held in high regard so anything is possible!!!! How can you possibly compare the 2!!?? He wasted 20 million! Levein has dropped wage bill, we've got younger squad, McCarthy, Hume, Fryat,.. i don't need to go through the squad. I would definitely give him a football job here again. And at Championship level. As long as he got help from someone.

newms Posted 7 March 2006 Author Posted 7 March 2006 Yeah but contrastingly Taylor did well at Brighton, has probably been one of the most successful under 21 managers, so much so that he was reappointed and taken Hull up 2 divisions in consecutive seasons. They were both rubbish at Leicester that is fact. But Taylor has a better record overall. Signing Fryatt is hardly the work of a genius, everyone new about him and his potential. But playing Maybury at Left Back, Kisnorbo in midfield and De Vries and Hammond up front when Hume is on the bench shows that he is a terrible technician and poor man manager Taylor signed poor players but has had time to learn from his mistakes coaching in a lower division. Levein has not hence he should go back to Scotland or start again in the conference
Leicester City Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 I was going to try to give a reasonable suggestion as to why I compare the two, then.....I saw that you would actually give Levein a job again at this club again. When did i say that? WHERE DID I SAY THAT!? I said 'here' meaning England. Not 'this club'!

Anish Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 I would be surprised if Levein got a job again in English football. Same here. Signing good youngsters and bringing the age/wages of the squad down mean nothing if you're going to get the team relegated.
Leicester City Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Same here. Signing good youngsters and bringing the age/wages of the squad down mean nothing if you're going to get the team relegated. He didn't get us relegated.
Anish Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 He didn't get us relegated. He would've done if he stayed - nobody can prove it either way but I firmly believe that would've been the case, and it would be hard to argue with that reasoning given the progressive decline in results, and no sign that anything was changing.
l444ry Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Apology accepted. So...................who is it that you would give a job to then?
TrickyTrev Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 He'll do a good job for his next club, he has a good eye for a player.
Anish Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 He'll do a good job for his next club, he has a good eye for a player. There's more to managing than having a good eye for a player. I'd go so far as saying that if he's given another job in England (Championship or above ) he'll repeat his failure here. I have no confidence in the man and I don't think his players did either.
The People's Hero Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 He's not great but not awful in the transfer market. He can't motivate, is tactically poor and plays players out of position. He also stubbornly refuses to learn from repeated mistakes.

I think he was an unlucky manager and as a result the players lost all confidence. We really aren't dominating matches anymore than we were under Levein, we could just never put the ball in the back of the net. He also made some fatal errors such as playing Kisnorbo in midfield when he was evidently a defender.
The People's Hero Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Under Levein we were awful... sh it. Under Rob Kelly, we're a mediocre-decent Championship side.

Thats true and it was actually Levein who played Kisnorbo in defence before he left which i think some people forget. I think he will be a success at another club. Look at out friend from Hull, he probably moved up too high, too quickly. I think Craig will learn from his mistakes at Leicester. It must have been hard for him here the last few months with some of the fans calling for him to be sacked. Was he ever going to succeed after that?! No.

To say he was destined to fail because the fans got on his back is ludicrous. And Levein may have played Kisnorbo at CB once, but you can't give him any credit for that considering the number of times Kisnorbo was played in midfield (and the fact that Levein thought he was good in midfield). How many times did West Ham fans call for Alan Pardew's head last season and the season before? They wanted him out, yet he's still succeeded there. Shows your theory isn't all accurate.
ramp Posted 8 March 2006 Posted 8 March 2006 i think the manager should be phil parkinson hes mint with colchester!!!!

You said Kisnorbo played in defence by Kelly. All i'm saying is that it was Levein who first put him there. Of course you'll find times when managers turn it around but i think that it was harder for Levein that it could have been. You are over reacting to what i said. All i'm saying is that i think Levein could have success in England. I think he said the right things, signed the right players but he made mistakes. He'll learn from them. We have different opinions. Fine!
