More Manager Candidate Stats

One manager who isn’t suffering a form dip is Dave Penney of Doncaster. His last two games have seen a win and a draw and having reached 150 games in charge his record of winning 52% of games and being undefeated in 75.3% is extremely impressive, so he statistically rivals Gary Johnson of Yeovil.

Sounds promising.

Statistics can be very misleading on their own though can't they. You need to consider the style in which a team gets results, wether they deserved those results and wether thos results were an over achievement or merely reaching expectations.

I would love Gary Johnson myself. He always speaks so much sense when interviewed and plays football the way I want to see it be played.

Dave Penney has a reputation for getting his team to play good football. I've only seen a few games on TV, but they look a very decent outfit who are encouraged to pass the ball on the ground.

Two consecutive promotions in two seasons is pretty good going with such limited resources.

Reminiscent of a certain Martin O' Neill.

We have held several discussions with the club over the managers position and the club have actively sought our views.

The discussions have covered the interview process that is being followed, a review of numerous managers stats, discussion on the desired qualities, the potential structure options and trying to constantly feedback the mood of the fans about candidates.

We had generated some ideas, however the club had them all & loads more besides. They are now on a shortlist of around 8. We haven't been told whose on it, but from previous discussions could probably identify the majority. However to ensure continuing the dialogue with the club we won't state any names.
