Guest Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 Clubs will only be able to offload players whose contracts finish though. Unfortunately there are enough players happy to play Championship football on Premiership wages, especially if they aren't really good enough to be on that kind of money (ie. no chance of a better team coming in for them). We've been a victim of that problem!
Master Fox Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 Clubs will only be able to offload players whose contracts finish though. Unfortunately there are enough players happy to play Championship football on Premiership wages, especially if they aren't really good enough to be on that kind of money (ie. no chance of a better team coming in for them). We've been a victim of that problem! It's never going to be easy to get out of this league. But just because the teams coming down get the parachute payment will not guarantee them an easy time in the championship. It's not like they will be given £100m to spend on players, and who's to say the players they do buy will be any good? If someone had said to you at the beginning of season Reading would win the league with 100+ points and Shef Utd would come second you would have laughed on their faces. So I’m optimistic about next season, this league every season never turns out the way you would expect. Only last season we were favourites to win the league, where did we finish, 15th! And let's not forget that the favourites to win the league this season, Southampton!
