davieG Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 Zilch according to the Mirror So shorten that list of players you think we might need and be prepared to lose some of the better ones. Bu nay do not worry we ould still have Tiatto ROB KELLY will not be given a penny to spend by the cash-strapped Foxes despite his miraculous rescue job - but insists he is ready for the challenge. Kelly says his toughest job is yet to come this summer after masterminding a recovery to secure Leicester's future in the Championship. His side have won eight of their 15 matches under his guidance but Kelly will not receive any cash to strengthen a tiny squad. The £7million parachute money from their stay in the Premiership two seasons ago has run out and Kelly will have to sell before he buys. The 41-year-old said: "The toughest part of the job is ahead of me and it's the least enjoyable. We're never all going to agree and there's only 11 that will be happy. "We've got to be realistic about next season. There will be three teams coming down with very large budgets and it's a tough division anyway ??" they are not going to weaken it.
Guest Gist Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I seen this in the paper earlier and it isn't looking to good if there isn't a penny to spend, this might mean we have to off load some of our better players in areas that don't need strengthening to get players for areas that do.
AyewJoking Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 So when we sold Connolly to Wigan the extra 1 million they give us for staying up will not go towards further transfers?
Jay Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 So when we sold Connolly to Wigan the extra 1 million they give us for staying up will not go towards further transfers? No!! it's already gone!! paying off Levein, signing Matty Fryatt and paid sum bills!! I wouldn't read that much into the story!! it was from the Mirror afterall they are masters of taking 2 and 2 and making 47!!

Benji Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I fail to see though how selling our better players to buy another player equally as good is benefitial i think we should just stick with what we've got, keep our ''stars'' and go for free transfers... now this may mean breaking the 25 and below range, but so be it if it helps us get a decent squad
blue army Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 i seen in the match program, the one on sat games. that if city have the 14000 season tickets stay and 4000 more people become season ticket holders then we will have 1M to spend
Leicester Lass Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 i seen in the match program, the one on sat games. that if city have the 14000 season tickets stay and 4000 more people become season ticket holders then we will have 1M to spend I read that too but to find 4000 more STH's will be a tough ask, that's almost 30% of the current number of STHs
potter3 Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I think me and 2 of my mates are going to buy one each, thats 0.00075%

The product is poor as it the experience, it's far too expensive and the service from the Club on most levels is poor. So why should I or anyone else spend our hard-earned on Tim Davies and Jo Bucci's gimmicks?
Louise Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I'm not sure why anyone is surprised that we'll have no money, haven't we known this for ages?
Knighton Matt Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I'm not sure why anyone is surprised that we'll have no money, haven't we known this for ages? Yep exactly. It's basic business sense really you lose £7m in revenue you tighten your belt not go out spending willy nilly.
blue army Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 will if we find 1000 more then we have 250000 to spend. me and my gf are going to be season ticket holder, so theres to more
reynard Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 It has been clear for a while that we have next to nothing for transfers. i also suspect our playing budget is probably over spent. A recent independent newspaper survey indicated average wages for this league are £197000 per year. 28 pros on this = 5.5million surely way beyond our budget. as far as i see things we have 4 possible alternatives. 1 maintain the current squad and hope to bring through youngsters 2 mainly as above but release tiatto who along with morris and joey are probably earning (complete guess here) 20k per week between them = just over 1m a year and put some of that back into season long loans or on cheap players from lower leagues. 3 sell some players to raise serious amounts of money. this would be controversial and depressing but might have to be done if we want to strenghten the squad to be serious candidates for a top 6 finish. As far as i can see the same names keep being bandied around on here as palayers we should get rid of. unfortunately the fact is how much would we get for hammil, de vries, hammond, douglas etc?? not much over 100k in my opinion. ok their wages would be free but we wouldn't free up much cash. the only players we could get serious money for imo are stearman (maybe 1m or at best 2m) fryatt (2m at best at current market levels) hume (500k tops don't think any prem side would think he was good enough). mcarthy (500k-1m) the questions are 1 if we could raise 2m would we be prepared to let one of our stars leave this could buy us 3-4 players. 2 could we afford to lose any of these player without badly upsetting our chances next season? 4 the last alternative is to massively increase season ticket sales and matchday attendances. this does not seem likely. the alternative here (too late now) would have been to increase season ticket prices an extra £25 per head on 14000 tickets would have raised 350k enough for 1 player.
Nationwider Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 will if we find 1000 more then we have 250000 to spend. me and my gf are going to be season ticket holder, so theres to more £250,000 equates to buying a player for £100,000 and paying him £3,000 a week for one season. You'd probably get a better-than-average League One player for that money. On the subject of getting rid of De Vries, Douglas, Hammond etc... if they' don't want to go, they won't. Simple as. This is the problem Southampton have been faced with this season - Redknapp had a big moan about it before he went back to Pompey. Take MDV - he knows he can go out on loan, so he'll get regular football if he wants it, if he's not involved at City. He's unlikely to get a better offer elsewhere. I doubt MDV is stupid - he'll know which side his bread is buttered on. Hence, he'll most likely stay put, collect the wages and move when the contracts up. The urge to make a quick buck on Fryatt may well be too great - especially if we falter at the start of next season. If Brum can pay £1M for DJ Campbell, Fryatt must be worth a lot more.
saffronfox Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 its not just Fryatt going that bothers me the way spurs are buying youth keeping hold of stearman could be a big task?

The product has been poor, but not over the last quarter of the season & that is the hope which should boost ST numbers. 4k is however very optimistic
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 Well it looks free transfers will be the agenda of the Summer, hopefully we will be able to afford some okay salarys to attract some players in on frees - there hopefully will be a couple worth bringing in. The sales of some players also hopefully will be able to bring in a bit of money, I doubt in the current market we will get much for the players who need to go - (in my mind: Rab, Momo, MDV, Tiatto (unlikly) and Hamill) but hopefully we can get something to go towards one or two cheap talents. With our youth and reserve team also we do have some gems who could make the step up, Wesolowski will surely be ready to get many more first-team games in for starters (if Kelly recognises this that is) - and that's the tip of the iceberg. It's not all doom and gloom, I just hope we can make the most of what we do have - and judging by the end of this season Kelly can do that. There is hope yet.
Babylon Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 I fail to see though how selling our better players to buy another player equally as good is benefitial Do you not think selling Connolly and buying hume and fryatt has been beneficial? If the money is spent wisely it's a good way to do business.
Dr The Singh Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 Do you not think selling Connolly and buying hume and fryatt has been beneficial? If the money is spent wisely it's a good way to do business. Agreed, by selling one of our gems and getting a couple from that sale is good business but risky. Kelly and LCFC have shown that they can buy good players on the cheap (Hume, Fryatt), so if a big offer does come in for one of our players it might not be so bad to sell if we can replace with 2 or more good players!!!!
Guest Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 I reckon a lot of fans will wait until a month or so into the season before committing to a season ticket. If we look good, and pick up early results, then this will be an incentive. Similarly, if our 'big' home games are in the second half of the season, and we are doing well at Xmas, half season ticket sales should be good. But it's all if's and but's, and it all hinges on a good run of form, which might not happen if we have to sell our best players.

This season will be a pivotable one, if we have a bad or average season there will be a reduction of STH, the average fan expect the club to challenge for promotion, without, they will lose interest!!! A good start is must!!!

A good start is must!!! There's going to be a lot of pressure on RK to get results, not just from the fans but the board as well. I know a lot are getting optimistic about next season, but I reckon it's going to be a lot tougher than this one.

Well if that's going to be the case then it's going to be a horror show. To get a good start next season we need to get atleast 2 or 3 players in even if they are only on free transfers but they improve our squad. To do this we probably need some extra season ticket sales but if people will wait then even if we have a good start by the time the money filters through the transfer window will ahve closed! Purely Belter!!!
Master Fox Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 I think we'll do ok next season. How much money of clubs relegated from the premiership do the managers really get spend on players? Clubs being relegated also have the problem of having a squad of players on premiership wages. They will also have to contend with a massive drop in millions of pounds in lost revenue. Not many clubs bounce straight back up these days, just look at Leicester, wolves, Leeds, Norwich, Southampton etc. The relegated clubs will have to off load players on the cheap just cut their wage bill. But if you look at our current team we got experience in this league now, we've got a manager who I believe knows exactly what he's doing. I'm sure we'll sign 3 or 4 players and with some of our youth players really showing like they are ready to make the step up to the first team we'll have a half decent squad.
