Scarby Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 It is going to be a long season i hope we do it the next 3 games wil decide will need 7 points min!!
Anish Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 We're drifting further and further away from the leading pack. Well done Harry Bassett, and you think you could have got us promoted if you were manager? We need to go on a winning streak and fast if we are to get anywhere near the playoffs by the end of the season.
Leicester_Mad Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 calm down lads still 30 games to go. Plenty of time to get it going and if Palace could make it up last season then we have an "easy" task :w00t:
Louise Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 I'm not expecting promotion this year. Under performing squad, bad results, old players, new manager and no funds for him to spend until the summer. If we scrape a playoff place I'll be happy, still being competitive while not getting promoted. It's not a problem if we're not promoted, just puts more pressure on next year with the last bit of the parachute payments. If we went up this year anyway we'd be straight back down, Adams seemed to think that this would be a good enough gamble to make with the financial state of the club but we're seeing now that he was wrong. I'd much rather we 'consolidate' this year, finishing as high as possible of course, blood some younger players for next year (when we'll need them with 14 out of contract) and make the push then. Levein said himself that the fans would have to be patient and making over the club would take time. I wasn't worried about people putting too much pressure on Levein as I think most fans backed Adams for too long anyway, but if everyone is expecting promotion this year still then I might rethink. We saw yesterday that Levein has a massive task on his hands.
Ash Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 As Leicester_Mad said we still have alot of games left , With Levein coming in hopefully things will change , we could actually win two games in a row

The playoffs will be very hard!
Durnerz Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 I'd rather stay in the division, build a team then go up, being better prepared for the premiership, whats the point in going up with the players we have and buying a whole new team that take a season to adjust and then go down.

It all adds up! Why would anyone want to stay in this league anyway?

Scarby Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 cant see it happening!!! Anyway as long as well play football, everyone puts in 100% who cares! what do we get millions for going up, do a palace get some half decent players in and bob's your uncle! Leicester are a premiership team1

Leicester are a premiership team1 31884[/snapback] Be realistic, the gulf between premiership and championship is huge, we will not survive if we go up and buy a whole new team, like last season. Craig Levein has said he wants to build a team, and i'm all for him doing that as I see it as our best chance of establishing ourselves in the premiership and actually progressing in football, not just taking a step forward and 2 steps back.

'Alright lads i want to stay here for another year to built the team.so dont bother trying out there today..its only Crewe so who cares' well..urm ..the FANS. Its like telling them to go play for the 0-0. No IMO we are here to win! GL has got a two year contract right if we stay dowb this year and go up next year, there is still a chance we are going to go down. So lets get up where we belong and state our claim like the MON days! It will do us no good staying in the championship for another season.

But as we are here lets try and get back to those dozzy heights
MON Posted 31 October 2004 Posted 31 October 2004 I have said this many times, the best way to re-build the team is in the premier league. We will have more money to spend this year if we do go up, then if we sign 5 or 6 very good players i will be pleased, then we can sign some playes with something to proove for back-up. We need to go up to the premier league, the attendances will drop, the revenue will drop, we will be putting too much pressure on next season. Do we still get parachute payments if we go up?
