The People's Hero Posted 14 May 2006 Posted 14 May 2006 Leicester is home to the first centre for English local history, established by the pioneering local historian W. G. Hoskins. It remains a leading centre for the study of English local history within one of the largest schools of historical studies in the UK. Its Sociology department has also been home to many prominent sociologists over the years. and I didn't copy and paste that!!! Last academic year I was their prized academic pupil and employee and my most recent bit of work with the department was been published. It really IS a good local history department!
