Chairman of the Bored Posted 11 June 2006 Posted 11 June 2006 Iran captain Ali Daei on Thursday hit back at foreign criticism of his country's ban on women from entering football stadiums. Daei, the world's leading international goal-scorer, said that the ban was an internal matter that should be decided by the Iranian people. "Every country has its own rules and culture. The United States is different from Iran, we have our own beliefs," said the 37-year-old veteran. "Currently with the atmosphere in the stadiums, I don't want my wife to be there." Daei, the first player to reach 100 international goals, said that he would prefer to scrap the rule but football grounds were too rowdy for women. . The bloke should come and sit next to wifey to be at a City match, he'd get a very different perspective. He should also try telling that to my old Mum who supported City through thick and thin from 1939 to 2002 onwards. Rowdy? She loved a good shout. Hit a Stoke fan on the head with her walking stick once!
MC Prussian Posted 11 June 2006 Posted 11 June 2006 Both teams looked like they had the same style of play, also player type-wise, so I was expecting a draw or a narrow win for Mexico, since they have the more skillful players like Borgetti. Very entertaining match, both squads with loads of effort in order to score. The header by Zinho was absolutely fantastic, smallest player on the pitch scores like that. Priceless. Mexico can advance a lot this tournament. Very compact squad, lots of talent, good mix between young and old and all the players give their best for the team and not for themselves. Did you see how the Mexicans carressed their goalie after the final whistle? That's what I call team spirit.
