Shipman Out Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 What a brilliant idea!! he deserves one regardless of the fact he left he stayed longer than anyone expected and showed passion for our club, his club! The circumstances of his retirement justifies a testimonal. Anyone who agrees should E-Mail Tim Davies i think its a superb idea so i will be.
Shipman Out Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 This is all a bit silly, he didnt end his carear with us and he fooked us off for more money. Plus we seem to have overlooked the fact his Knee is bolloxed and he wouldnt be able to play, so we'd have a Muzzy Izzet testimonial, with the funds not going to Muzzy Izzet ( as we seem to have decided ) and without Muzzy Izzet playing in it. Pointless. He fooked off for the money!! dont you think he was getting on a bit and wanted one last chance to play at the highest level after running the show for us for years! He had plenty of chances to leave but stayed on cos he wanted to get us back up, he would of stayed if we did get up It was a football decision not a money one. Have you ever seen a testimonial match would you be upset if we lost cos Muzzy wasnt putting it in enough!
Louise Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 I sense the problem most people have with this is the name. Instead of the emphasis of it being a 'testimonial', how about making it more of a 'Muzzy Izzet Charity Match' with all the money going to a charity of Muzzy's choice. Hell, Birch is going to have to give up his run some time, this could take over from that..
Jay_Lcfc1 Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 He should have a testimonial, and of course he made alot of money at leicester but cmon guys he worked his socks off for it. He turned down an offer from middlesborough when we got relegated and they were a top half premier league team. He had everyright to move to birmingham and i dont think any leicester fan should hold a grudge to that. He gave us 8 seasons of goals, glory and cups and in the middle relegation. I doubt he will have one though.
vanfox12 Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 Trouble is we seem to come across as a cynical lot. Then again we a have lot of reasons to be. Having said that i've got no problem with a charity match. I remember someone saying something about Walshy having a Testimonial even though he truly deserved his.
Tommeh Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 This might have been mentioned alreay but will he ever be fit to play in his own testomonial if it ever happens???
Louise Posted 1 July 2006 Posted 1 July 2006 This might have been mentioned alreay but will he ever be fit to play in his own testomonial if it ever happens??? He could just do what Lineker did in the Liverpool vs Everton charity match not long ago, start the game then come off after a couple of minutes.
Guest Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 What about when we first got relegated? Muzzy was at the prime of his career but stayed with us for the season despite getting offers. Mostly because a) the terms offered were not as good as staying here, and b) only Boro put in a firm offer, and he didn't want to have to move up there.Testimonials used to repay players for their loyalty, and were supposed to be a 'bonus' in the days when the average player earned less a week than the average fan earned in a year. As much as I loved Izzet, no player in this day and age playing most of his career in the top two divisions in this country should not be entitled.
stez Posted 2 July 2006 Posted 2 July 2006 so with the sad news that muzzy will be quitting the game, does anyone thing leicester will give him a testimonial match? a good idea would be against chelsea, where he started his career. i hope not, for the reasons stated above. i don't really want to give any of my limited monies to someone who's already had plenty of it already
