Rooney....

The fact he gave no thought at all about the consequences of his actions shows he is an immature little boy.

Stick him back in the U21's until he grows up.

Possibly the worst thing you've ever said. He might be a little bit immature but do you punish him or try and aid him? If he wasn't performing very well and getting himself worked up then perhaps the under 21's would be useful but considering he's been our best player for over a year I find your comments ludicrous. Goals win you matches, his goals have been vital for England. This is the first time he's properly lost his rag for England, he deserves another chance.

Rooney would be a loss to England it's as simple as that. Don't cut your nose off to spite your face.

Ludicrous?

He's behaved like a spoilt brat on a number of occasions whilst at Everton, and has done for Manure this season.

It was only a matter of time before he lost it in an England shirt.

I don't believe pussy-footing around him will help at all, you'll just be pandering to his ego, and in the long term this will be of no benefit at all.

If I remember rightly, Moyes banished back to the youth team after one of his episodes, after which he returned with an improved attitude for a while at least.

Oh, and goals do win you matches, but if we're going to continue playing like we did the other night, I don't care if we had the world's greatest strikers, we aren't going to score anyway!

I think Hoof is being a bit kind to Rooney. In my view Rooney behaved like a petulant little sh*t from the 1st minute onwards when things weren't going his way. He made two incredibly stupid fouls, one of which was a shove in the back of the goalkeeper (how cowardly is that) when the ball was miles away. He was lucky not to have got sent off before he was subbed - and his attitude towards Sven when he walked off was disgraceful. Yes most players don't like coming off, but in his mind he should have realised that he was causing a lot of trouble on the pitch and he was becoming increasingly wound up by the Spanish tactics.

He needs to grow up and learn to take things on the chin when they are not going your way - he has immense talent but even for a 19 year old his behaviour was pathetic.

I bet none of you will be saying any of this when he ends up top scorer in the next world cup, Dickov was like rooney but everyone loved him because he played for leicester, if rooney was at leicester most would be defending him, personally I think hes the missing bit of the jigsaw, that 2nd striker who can score lots for england, dont care about him at club level, im not a man utd fan.

I would bet you £10 here and now that Rooney won't end up as top scorer in the next WC.

And Dickov was an irritable player - but he didn't have the petulance and childishness that Rooney has.

I can't bring myself to worship any footballer to that level.

They're paid a helluva lot to do a job, and if they do it well, fair enough, but if they don't, then get on with it, and quit with the prima donna attitude.
