MC Prussian Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 Swiss national goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbühler is set to join West Brom Albion for two years. The 35-year old, who didn't allow a single goal this World Cup, will hold talks with the club responsibles today. This move sees Thomas Kuzszak leave the Baggies and go to Manchester United. News from the Daily Mirror Please, let it happen! I want Leicester to bag a few past him! What a rubbish keeper, David James is a saint compared to him!
Ultra Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 Stories in the English tabloids aren't always true. I doubt that the English lower leagues would appeal to him at this stage in his career.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 Zuberbuhler is not a bad keeper, like many others he is a pretty decent shot stopper but quite unrelaible on crosses, from what i have seen at the world cup any way!
Ultra Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 He also had a mare when his team played at Middlesbrough last year. I'd be VERY surprised if this move goes ahead..

MC Prussian Posted 12 July 2006 Author Posted 12 July 2006 But in all honesty, I must admit that he's always been very shaky in games against "weaker" opponents (in the league for FC Basel and in his short stage with Bayer Leverkusen), not just against crosses, but also weak shots from close range. I think he just doesn't take those games very seriously and that's when he thinks that he's not obliged to move a point at all. On the other hand, he can be quite impressive when he's facing star-studded teams. He did a marvellous job a few years back against Liverpool and Celtic in the qualifications stages for the Champions League. His outstanding and confident display at this year's WC goes in the same category.
MC Prussian Posted 13 July 2006 Author Posted 13 July 2006 It appears to be a done deal, he has passed the medical. Good luck to him in the Championship, wish him all the best and hopefully, he'll get as many games to play as possible (No.1)?
MC Prussian Posted 14 July 2006 Author Posted 14 July 2006 It's a done deal now (finally): Zuberbühler signs for West Brom It's also mentionned on the official West Bromwich Albion homepage.
Maybes Posted 14 July 2006 Posted 14 July 2006 This now means kuszczak is free to leave for Man yoooo
MC Prussian Posted 14 July 2006 Author Posted 14 July 2006 I've also heard that Charlton are after FC Basel's Aussie defender Scott Chipperfield.

MC Prussian Posted 16 July 2006 Author Posted 16 July 2006 He must be on a good whack at the baggies... Well, since Kuzszak is going nowhere, it seems like the two of them are battling out the No.1 spot among themselves... I wish him well at the Baggies, hope he'll get enough games to prove that he can be a class keeper (but only when he wants to).
Ultra Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 If they can keep Curtis Davies they'll be strong contenders for the top 6. If not, they'll probably be mid-table also-rans.
