cisono Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 Dirty? Moi? You're 'aving a larf. I mean... innocent post about driving... anything lends itself to being molded into something dirty by you!
Flynny Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 I found it hard to change gear without swerving into the other side of the road. I've had 13, 14 lessons and I still drift a bit in the gear change. Also if there's traffic lights and a bend straight after I'll only get into 2nd 50% of the time, the other time I'll not be able to change because I'm concentrating on the steering. It doesn't help that the car is a bit small and I whack my knee on the bottom of the wheel every time I lift the clutch.
SystonFox Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 i pissed it on all my lessons. for some people driving comes naturally and you just get it. now i am a better driver than scumacher - i mean, does his old ferrari have a reverse? i dont think so!
Wils Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 Couldn't get to grips with the knob? Yes actually, bet you cant belive that can you? I've had 13, 14 lessons and I still drift a bit in the gear change. I hope you drive carefully and thoughtfully though? Too many new drivers get over-confident and cause accidents or get very close to doing so ...
Geo V Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 About 16 years ago driving down a really busy Uppingham Road had me shaking like a sh**ing dog! Still, I made it through but have had a lovely ban along the way that wasnt even my fault!
cisono Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 I don't remember my first driving lesson. It was not such a shock. I only had the minimum number of lessons and passed first time round. (this was in Italy) But I still occasionally dream of driving and not wanting to be stopped by the police because (in my dream) I don't have a licence and have not yet passed my test. Weird
billabob Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 Nice one. What you planning to do once you got your license? Weekly trips down t' Oxfordshire? not weekly no, every other week, which i do now anyway!
lookwhaticando Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 not weekly no, every other week, which i do now anyway! Predictable. Worth it though, I'm sure.
cisono Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 I found it hard to change gear without swerving into the other side of the road. Found a bit hard switching from left-hand to right-hand drive... I'd change gear and next moment look for the gearstick on the door while trying to change gear with my right hand
Flynny Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 Couldnt you just move your seat back a bit? No, otherwise I'm stretching for the pedals and not close enough to have a bit of bend in my arms. My legs are just too long is all.
cisono Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 No, otherwise I'm stretching for the pedals and not close enough to have a bit of bend in my arms. My legs are just too long is all. How can you be stretching for the pedals if your legs are that long?!?!?!
Flynny Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 How can you be stretching for the pedals if your legs are that long?!?!?! I dunno. Maybe my knees are in a funny place. Maybe my leg length is out of proportion to my arm length and I'm stretching with my arms before I am my legs. I can't exactly remember. But it doesn't work out.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 I dunno. Maybe my knees are in a funny place. Maybe my leg length is out of proportion to my arm length and I'm stretching with my arms before I am my legs. I can't exactly remember. But it doesn't work out. You've either got the arms of a T-Rex or the legs of Naomi Campbell. Ideally both.
SystonFox Posted 28 January 2007 Posted 28 January 2007 I hope you drive carefully and thoughtfully though? Too many new drivers get over-confident and cause accidents or get very close to doing so ... yes i take care on the roads. ive been driving nearly 2 yrs now.
