Guest Daniel Posted 23 July 2004 Posted 23 July 2004 Crystal Palace have launched a bid to snatch Michael Carrick and Marlon Harewood from West Ham - the team they beat in last season's play-offs. The Eagles have offered the Hammers £2.5m for Carrick and £1m for Harewood, while also bidding £1.5m for Southampton defender Fitz Hall. Palace won promotion to the Premiership by defeating West Ham 1-0 at The Millennium Stadium, and signing two of their players would only rub salt into the wound. Carrick's future was cast into doubt immediately after that match, but a potential move away from the club failed to materialise for the former England international. Speculation has also linked Harewood with a move away from Upton Park, where manager Alan Pardew favours playing the striker out of position on the right of midfield. Eagles boss Iain Dowie has long been an admirer of Hall's having signed him for Oldham. Signing all three players would take Palace chairman Simon Jordan's summer spending close to the £8m mark following the arrival of Julian Speroni, Mark Hudson, Emmerson Boyce and Joonas Kolkka at Selhurst Park.

Scow Posted 23 July 2004 Posted 23 July 2004 Doesn't look like Palace are gonna stay up with the signings they've made so far......
SamuearlJackson Posted 23 July 2004 Posted 23 July 2004 now way could we afford 1mil for harewood and even if we did have the money our priorities should be elsewhere (central-midfield). we now have...Dublin, Connolly, Morris, Benji, Scowcroft and Wright who can play up-front. This is enough quality and quantity for the league we're in IMO. SamJ
Guest Daniel Posted 23 July 2004 Posted 23 July 2004 Id have Harewood ahead of all of them, maybe not Connolly. I think Harewood & Connolly would mean goals. Have West ham actually signed anyone?
Ash Posted 23 July 2004 Posted 23 July 2004 Harewood = Good Divison 1 player nothing better Carrick = Average Premeirship player but nothing to smile about So there spending £3.5 on two players who for not proven in the Premiership ! But Thanks Palace , thats West Ham out of the Championship race

Scow Posted 23 July 2004 Posted 23 July 2004 I thought Carrick handed in a Transfer Request ? Even if they did, West Ham are still entitled to reject that offer.
