Deathside Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Right now I'm going to take a shÃÂt, spike my hair, drink a large amount of Absolut Vodka & a couple of cans of Red Bull then make my way to said Pukkelpop Festival Going out for a curry the night before a festival does not rank among the best ideas I've ever had
Dr The Singh Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Going out for a curry the night before a festival does not rank among the best ideas I've ever had You live on the 'side of death', there's nothing you can't handle!!! Seriously though, RESTAURANT curries have alot of uncooked spices and spices that may not common to your system, which is usually the main cause of the after effects. Just drink loads of water before or while or after!!!

Janx Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 hey they call you DEATHMAN....a bit of ring sting should be nart!
cisono Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Good call. When indian food is cooked at home, it is a lot lesser in richness BUT much better in taste and for your system. I always suspected that. Never fancy going out to Indian restaurants. I feel queasy for hours after the meal... no matter what I choose. PS: This did not happen in India... (including the curry I had on the plane). There you go, Deathside, next time you fancy a curry, just pop over to India! (Not particularly pleasant flight from Singapore, though, if I remember well... )

I suppose that's why all non-asian people are suprised that asian people actually have curry 5-6 times a week! Even after I visit an Indian Restaurant, get a dodgy tum for a few hours or until the morning

I takes 2 hours plus to make a 'proper' curry (home made) and only 10 minutes in a restaurant. Restaurant curries do taste delicious......but it's enhanced by the added fat and raw spices, and if your like me, beer!!!!!!

Even after I visit an Indian Restaurant, get a dodgy tum for a few hours or until the morning Nah, I'm not, I could eat curry that often. The restuarant in my village (that's right, my village has an Indian Restuarant, LOVE IT) never makes me queasy, or my family come to think of it. Love it. Anyway, my sister's boyfriend's family are from Sri Lanka, one of these days I'm turning up at their house and getting some proper curry.

Hehe I must admit I am a big fan of the 'Sizzlers' in the Indian Pub type places in Leicester!

It could be that restaurants in villages cook somewhat more traditionally hence no queasiness. As I mentioned, I was fine after all the meals I had in India (2 holidays of 14 days each)... Once you find a good restaurant, stick with it!

Dr The Singh Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Hehe I must admit I am a big fan of the 'Sizzlers' in the Indian Pub type places in Leicester! Sizzlers are quite healthy though!!! If your going to WBA game, there are some cracking Pubs that do great 'tandoored' food, hundred times better then Leicester and great value for money. Try the 'Sportsman' in West Brom, it's on the High Street, or 'The Vine' which is the first turning left I think off the motorway towards West Brom, my Mrs is from Smethwick so I know all the haunts!!!. Almost all the pubs in smethwick\West Brom serve food, most are abit rustic, and most are traditional 'punjabi' pubs, but the beers good, foods great and atmosphere is cool too!!!

cisono Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Where bouts in India did you visit mate? Goa (First time round, I flew over there from Singapore, via Bombay, hence had a few meals on the various planes too).

When we were in Southampton, (cracking night ) would the umpteen alcholic beverages you consumed b4 we went and ate at your Uncles friends restaurant , be anything to do with tummy upsets the next day ? Also , if my mrs could cook a curry as good as your mum Shum (poet me) then we would eat more per week. I have been known to cook a nice curry for myself and Mark on Christmas day while the rest of the family eat traditional fare.
lookwhaticando Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 A curry is not a good idea when you plan on washing it down with 12 brandies.
cisono Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 A curry is not a good idea when you plan on washing it down with 12 brandies. Or 12 of anything for that matter!
lookwhaticando Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Or 12 of anything for that matter! 12 situps would cause problems for sure. 12 lines of cocaine... well that's a different story altogether. 12 cans of coke.. again, problems galore. 12 bars of chocolate... that's not gonna work. I think you're right. Curry + 12 of (whatever) = very bad news.

To be fair I was alright the next day, probably due to the alcohol hehe!
