What have you done to help someone today?

Excuse the title, sounds a bit like a charity appeal doesn't it?

Anyways...

I was just wondering if anyone has done anything useful for somebody else today? A friend who needed something? A total stranger who needed help? Anything/Anyone?

Here's mine. ;)

So I get on the bus at university this afternoon, just making my way back into the city centre area where I reside. The bus goes around the block on campus, picking up people along the way. We pull up at the final campus stop and I notice a short old lady (I don't mean 50s - must have been mid-60s at least) trying to run along the path to catch the bus. Well normally on these articulated buses the driver opens all three doors. But I guess with only two or three people standing at the stop, he didn't bother. When I realized this woman wanted to catch the bus, I jumped from my seat and opened the rear door to let her on. I like to think that in itself was helping somebody out - but anyways...

As we drive along the route, she leans over and asks me if I had change for a fiver, so she could get a ticket for the bus (you only get on at the back if you have a pass/transfer usually) - unfortunately not, but these lasses next to me (from Sheffield - imagine that, 3400 miles away from home!) Anyways, she now had the change required. We were right at the rear of the bus, so to get a ticket you had to walk up to the front of the bus to the driver. Well with the bus in motion, that's a tricky prospect for some people - so I offered to go for her. She passed me the three dollars as required, and off I went to obtain her a transfer (ticket).

As we neared the downtown core, it was time for her to get off and find her way to the 87. I explained in detail where she had to go to get onto the bus route she needed, in the direction she needed. I explained before she got off, and then I got the bus to stop at the closest stop, and then jumped off the bus to point her in the right direction. Off she went in search of her bus. I had held up the rest of the bus for a minute (I was holding the rear door, they couldn't leave without me lol) to make sure she knew where to go.

I was quite pleased with myself to be honest. I do like helping people, particularly those deserving of it. :)

Not much, now I think about it.

I gave a friend some details of some jobs he might like to apply for.

Other than that, it was just me cooking for my mother and I...

I suppose I could include popping a card in the post earlier to let someone know I was thinking of them... but it's not exactly me directly 'helping someone'.

I've been pretty absorbed in work/study today to be fair. Although I bet I've managed a fair few posts on here too! :P

Im ashamed, I don't think ive done anything to help anyone else today. Ive only been out to take my daughter to play group and made tea. I think I let someone out in front of me, thats about it

That doesn't count.:doh: (61 today, by the way) lol

You've gone for the 'quantity' approach today - a few small things for a few people. It all adds up though.

Kayteh, didn't realise you had a daughter!

That means you do something for someone else each and every day :)

Absolutely... it must also mean you don't get too much spare time to help other people out!

Im no hero, I have it easier than some. I was thinking more of going out of your way to help someone or something. It's my duty to care for my baba if you see what I mean.

Understand where you're coming from on that front.

But that doesn't take away from the fact you have somebody to look after at all times. That takes some doing I'm sure. ;)

Me, I can barely look after myself. :pinch:

Ah... Daddy's Girl?

Fo sho!

She doesnt even look like me at all (not a bad thing) but she has my mannerism - poor kid :D

Sounds like she's well on her way to becoming a fully fledged Leicester fan too...

Poor thing! :P

Hopefully there will be improvements soon, for her sake! :P

Indeed, took her to the Boston and Real pre season games - she's not a bad little footballer now either - can kick the ball out of her hands and everything now :cry:

Bloody hell, get her in the first XI.

(Don't let Thracian hear of this! :P)

One of my footie mates (German guy - good player!) has a son who is at about that footballing stage.

Perhaps your daughter and his son could train together? :P
