Stuliasz Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 The ratings have really highlighted this over the past 3 months. Can anyone come up with an explanation as to why this is?
Jonesy_rules Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 not sure whether he does or not, but then again not been to any away games
Scow Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 Maybe us away followers are harsh raters... I think his performance relies heavily on the crowd's response to him. If he's playing well, the crowd encourage him to do well, and you see the best of him. But at the start of the season where his performances were woeful, the crowd got on the back of him, and you could see how this affected him. If the crowd see that he's trying, he'll get backed. I don't think he was giving his all at the start..... Another reason may be that he's asked to play more attacking at home, and that's where we see more of him. Away from home, he sits deeper, more on par with the back 4 and doesn't go forward as much as in home games.
Ric Flair Posted 10 December 2004 Posted 10 December 2004 Because full-backs attack more when they are at home and that's where their performances really come to life. He is sound defensively, but people don't pick up on that very much. If he was playing as an out and out winger he'd probably get better ratings in away games too. Full backs never get rated higher than 6 or 7 unless they do something outstanding which he has been doing at home such as his mazy runs and crosses, etc. He's definately been the most improved player over the past two months, although Gillespie is pushing him for the title. Stewart now actually looks like a proper footballer and in my opinion if he continues to play well could well attract one of the biggish clubs in the premiership, i.e. Everton, Blackburn, Fulham, etc

Well improved but not as much as Gillespie and Nalis.
