Thracian Posted 21 October 2006 Share Posted 21 October 2006 There were several: 1) For the first time in months we showed some cohesion and tried to play all our football on the ground until fatigue dulled our brains. 2) Danny Tiatto had the best game I've seen him play for the club in his new midfield role. He was committed, timed his tackles, distributed the ball sensibly and quite accurately, supported in many places and controlled himself. 3) Hughes had his best game for ages too but sadly, doing exactly the same sort of thing as Tiatto and we cannot afford two essentially defensive midfielders. Yes he supported the attack much more than usual but it didn't look natural and he invariably needed far too long to shoot and lacked real conviction when it actually happened. 4) Hammond and Hume continued to look dangerous on scraps. Hammond won the penalty from nothing and featured in some excellent moves. Still needs to relax and be ruthless when he shoots and should certainly have had one goal. Hume, of course, took his goals tally to six which is starting to look pretty good. 5) Nils was another who had his best game I've seen. He remained defensively solid and tried to pass the ball to feet for the first two thirds of the game which shows he can do it if his focuses his mind. 6) Logan saved Kelly embarrassment and Leicester two points with his brilliant block when Palace got completely clear near the end. 7) McAuley and Kisnorbo gave another solid display against aerially capable opponents. 8) We continued our run of unbeaten games even if we did waste two points against a more than ordinary Palace team. Agree with all points made.

Simon Posted 22 October 2006 Share Posted 22 October 2006 LOGAN FOR IRELAND Maybe a bit premature... Agree with everything Thrac has said. My fave good point of the day was the kop singing 'super steve' in the first half when the Palace fans got going- magic!
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 22 October 2006 Share Posted 22 October 2006 I was interstate for a Melbourne away game so I missed it unfortunately - I thought the 1-1 result was good first reading it... FT folk are generally hard-arses when it comes to dishing out praise, so I'll read from this that we had a reasonably good game which I'm glad to hear
Daggers Posted 22 October 2006 Share Posted 22 October 2006 Confirmation, if any were needed, that there is a fag paper between all the teams in this distinctly average division.
