lookwhaticando Posted 22 October 2006 Posted 22 October 2006 Just wondering if anyone here uses the lo-fi version (less-fancy, fewer images, very basic) of FoxesTalk? That'd be advantageous to people who use dial-up, it'd load tons quicker. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those people who lo-fi would be useful for even know it exists. FoxesTalk in lo-fi mode - incase you've never seen it/heard of it. Vote away!

Milky Posted 22 October 2006 Posted 22 October 2006 How about a third poll option... "didn't know there was a lo-fi version?" bingo
lookwhaticando Posted 22 October 2006 Author Posted 22 October 2006 If a mod is watching, a third option I didn't know there were different versions would be nice. Thanks!
cisono Posted 22 October 2006 Posted 22 October 2006 If a mod is watching, a third option I didn't know there were different versions would be nice. Thanks! Can you actually post from that version? As my supervisors would have put it, the lo-fi version is inferior, in that it has less informational content.
lookwhaticando Posted 22 October 2006 Author Posted 22 October 2006 Can you actually post from that version? Actually, since it's presented in html, I'd imagine not. It's even more basic than I thought. I think the idea is, primarily, for more basic presentation for devices less-than-capable. Those using the lo-fi can always reply by switching to regular in order to post stuff.

I guess I would like an in-between version to use on PCs but with a set of configurable options (stuff to show and stuff to hide) In case any developers would like to know :-)
lcfc_jme Posted 22 October 2006 Posted 22 October 2006 Regular version all the way. The lo-fi version doesn't keep me at all interested in the site

lcfc_jme Posted 22 October 2006 Posted 22 October 2006 Indeed. It is just for having a quick look when using a PDA or similar methinks... It's just something I happened to click on once when I was new to the site and I was looking through the various features. It was scary and I didn't like it
De Vries The King Posted 22 October 2006 Posted 22 October 2006 My god that is basic, never knew it existed before this very moment in time <_<
cisono Posted 22 October 2006 Posted 22 October 2006 My god that is basic, never knew it existed before this very moment in time <_< Very basic... brings to mind the phrase "basic facilities"
lookwhaticando Posted 23 October 2006 Author Posted 23 October 2006 My god that is basic, never knew it existed before this very moment in time <_< That's why it's called lo-fi. What you'll find is, if you search the web for something and it appears in a forum, it'll send you to the lo-fi version, obviously because it's a little easier to find content on a basic page of html rather than a more dynamic php page filled with pictures. Very basic... brings to mind the phrase "basic facilities" It's like a bathroom with just a sink... you gotta do everything in the sink. That's basic. Even cavemen had better facilities than that.

lcfc_jme Posted 23 October 2006 Posted 23 October 2006 I was there. Yeah and Milan Mandaric is going to buy Leicester City Footb... Hang on a minute!! What was it like?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
lookwhaticando Posted 23 October 2006 Author Posted 23 October 2006 Yeah and Milan Mandaric is going to buy Leicester City Footb... Hang on a minute!! What was it like?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Primitive. It was nigh-on impossible to communicate. Nobody seemed to speak English. The blokes amongst the cavemen weren't interested in chebs, just chuff. I suppose it was only when language came into it that blokes flipped girls over ... © Mr. D. Brent.

Good job you've posted the source and put the copyright label on it or you could have found yourself in a bit of bother there looky. Quality stuff though
Rincewind Posted 23 October 2006 Posted 23 October 2006 maybe all those that don't post use it and don't know how to switch over.
