Guest Posted 29 December 2004 Posted 29 December 2004 My feeling is that some of the current first team squad already know their days are numbered, and are therefore not giving their best performances on the pitch because of it. It's the only logical explanation as to why we are so crap other than facing up to the obvious "we are simply shit" arguement.

I just don't understand what's wrong with them.

He was an utter embarassment yesterday.
Highland Posted 29 December 2004 Posted 29 December 2004 You can only have sympathy for CL.Comes into a Club full of clapped out has beens and never will bes,no support from his board. Our board sing the same old song 'No money, someone will have to go before anyone can be brought in' how much have they gave Levein? not one penny.Attendances are dwindling because people won't pay to watch the same old rubbish but if CL was allowed to bring in 2 or 3 new faces then people might at least turn up to watch the team hence the Club would make more money. How long before they are playing to a half full Walkers Stadium in the League.Nobody is asking for a windfall of cash,£300,000 would at least give us some ammunition but No its wait until someone wants to buy our rubbish then you can get someone in.Tell me who wants the likes of Makin,Gemmill,Blake etc etc...nobody thats who and thats why they are here.
spirefox Posted 29 December 2004 Posted 29 December 2004 I'm starting to have a few niggling doubts about CL.The starting line up on Boxing day was virtually the same as against Plymouth with Gillespie and Morris playing wide. The half time score was the same but his response wasn't ,instead of striffening the outnumbered midfield that worked so dramatically against Plymouth he brings on Trevor on the right wing! When he did bring another midfielder it was a straight swap for Nalis. Then yesterday he replaced Keown with Heath after Dublin and Dabizas had played so well at Leeds in what was otherwise the same team and formation that started at Elland Road. Two thoughts occur, Either he has given up already on getting into the play-offs and is just having a look at everybody or is his unfortunate domestic situation affecting his concentration?

If the answer is no then please don't moan about the board. At least they don't spend what they don't have, unlike the last lot who have put us in the position we are in now. If you want someone to blame, blame that lot. Equally you could have a dig at Micky Adams, who spent his entire budget before the season began, when instead of buying players like Gemmill, Blake, and Jason Feckin Wilcox he should have waited to see what players he needed to strengthen the squad a few games into the season...what he did was panick buy, sadly he panick bought shit! It isn't the boards fault...they have done all they can. As I have mentioned already, having Stuart Taylor here has taken us over budget. Money, sadly, doesn't grow on trees or explode out of people wallets around filbert way.
Highland Posted 29 December 2004 Posted 29 December 2004 I suppose you are right SF but all Leveins targets will have moved by the time he is given the chance.Make no mistake Alan Maybury will not be available come the Summer. With this squad we are in serious danger of relegation. We remind me of the Man City team that were relegated to the then Div 2,we are bad enough to go down and with no new players tell me how will anything change ?

It looks like a lot of players that we want could be snapped up because of our lack of funds. So lets look to see who we could get rid of. Slowcroft...Perhaps Norwich or another small, (blind, deaf and dumb) team would take him. Blake...Sunderland were interested, we might be able to inflict him on another team. Keown...has been excellent, but isn't the future, Small prem teams would snap our arm off for him because he offers experience and leadership at the back. Dabizas...Could also be attractive to small prem club Dublin...common knowledge that he didn't leave for coventry because he has hopes that a prem team will come in for him Sadly we are stuck with garbage like Makin, Gemmill etc, but I think there is a possibility that we could try and ship some of the above out. If we could do this it would release some money to sign up some of Leveins targets. Lets just hope there are a lot of very stupid teams out there who think some of our 'players' might be good.
Foxes_Trust Posted 29 December 2004 Posted 29 December 2004 As SF has already said, the club is over budget by loaning Taylor & the dropping level of support (being around 22k prior to Boxing Day) only further tightens the purse strings. If CL feels he has to change it now, then he will have to move on whoever clubs come in for & they may not be the players that most would wish to leave, to enable some fresh blood to be brought in. We have to hope for some Premiership approaches to raise some decent funds or the departure off the wage bill of Walker, Elliot, Scowy or Benjy. Given the current injuries to the first 2, they seem unlikely. We can confirm CL is actively looking to make some changes, but there is no certainty of deals happening as yet.

SilverFox Posted 29 December 2004 Author Posted 29 December 2004 In light of the FT comments that players need to be sold to bring new ones in, this picture made me laugh my ass off Its actually advertising a sale at the megastore, but I thought it was pure comedy in its suggestion that we should knock 50% off Matt Heath :w00t:
Highland Posted 29 December 2004 Posted 29 December 2004 The other option is to sell our supposed 'better players',the ones who could command a fee.I'm talking of the likes of Williams,Connolly,Stewart,Canero,... when I say better I mean the ones someone might actually pay for.And then use that money to get 1,2 or 3 players in.I'm clutching at straws here aren't I ?

Guest Posted 29 December 2004 Posted 29 December 2004 They can't afford to buy new players, but they can pay lawyers to initiate a scheme which will also require money up front for essential changes to the stadium. Great.

I might give it a miss on the basis that I had a brilliant christmas, and was full of the wonders of christmas spirit. I spent christmas eve with my family and friends, and Christmas day with my girlfriend and family(driving 120 miles to get there)...only to drive 120 miles back to Leicester on boxing day to become Mr. Scrooge within 10 minutes of kick off. My christmas spirit was gone for good. I think the point i'm trying to make is that LCFC depressess the F*** out of me!
Scow Posted 30 December 2004 Posted 30 December 2004 I'm going, like I do with every game, although I tend to question why I do it though when I see useless wankers churning out pathetic performances.
Guest Posted 31 December 2004 Posted 31 December 2004 I'm looking forward to it.....did I say looking forward, I'm sure I meant to say something else......
