lookwhaticando Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Managed to beat Man United today. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the first time he's beaten Man U as a manager? If so, fantastic achievement. Up the 'ammers.
Guest Gist Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Only two points between Chelsea and Man Utd now!
Leicester Lass Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Great stuff, always love to see Man U get beat
MC Prussian Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Makes the Premiership fancier, doesn't it?
Leicester Lass Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Makes the Premiership fancier, doesn't it? Definitely, it could've just about been all over today had Chelsea lost and Man U won, but far from it now
lookwhaticando Posted 17 December 2006 Author Posted 17 December 2006 Perhaps Curbishley will now prove to be a top manager with a decent squad at his disposal. Let's face it, Charlton weren't exactly brilliant. I certainly hope so... I'd love to see him prove the England selectors wrong in their decision. Mind you, I would still have picked MON.
Suffolk_fox Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Saw the second half, not a bad performance by the Hammers. I agree it is good to see Man Utd beaten, and to spice up the Premiership somewhat...

I agree it is good to see Man Utd beaten, and to spice up the Premiership somewhat... I prefer a brilliant relegation battle - the Southampton/Norwich/West Brom/Crystal Palace one was absolutely effing brilliant! Top quality entertaining each week just watching the bottom four spin themselves around. The title challenge is usually buttock-clinchingly piss poor at the end, but that relegation scrap made the Premiership too bloody interesting for words! YEAH! I'd like to see a Boro/Watford/Charlton/Blackburn/Man City relegation battle. I don't really want Man city to go down, but they've been indifferent and could easily get sucked in.

Libertine Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 I like Ham but I wanted Manure t'win. I so don't want Fatboy and Chelsea to win the league again.
Joe. Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 That's one way to make yourself an instant hero... Great win for the hammers.
Brummie-FOX Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 I think it was always on the cards. I suppose Curbishley wanted to do something after they ruined his last game with Charlton at Old Trafford Finally, why are Chelsea now favourites again? They're 2nd, 2 points off the top, and haven't been at the top since mid-September. Im sure if Chelsea were in Man Utd's position and Vice-Versa, the bookies wouldn't be favouring Man Utd to win? I really do believe Man Utd can get results even when they perform badly.. Unlike today
Joe. Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 I think he will go on to achieve good things at West Ham
Brummie-FOX Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Is this good thing Mid-table solidarity for the next ten years? He's named as a great Manager, as I think he is. But when will he finally get higher up the table with a club?

Brummie-FOX Posted 17 December 2006 Posted 17 December 2006 Charlton had a nice little squad. With West Ham he'll have better players, with much more money
lookwhaticando Posted 17 December 2006 Author Posted 17 December 2006 I like Ham but I wanted Manure t'win. I so don't want Fatboy and Chelsea to win the league again. Ditto. It was a real mixer for me - don't want Man U to lose their lead, don't want West Ham to be consigned to another loss. Still, now Man U have had lost one, they can go on and win the next 10 easy. Hopefully Chelsea will cock it up in spectacular fashion before long.

I really do believe Man Utd can get results even when they perform badly.. Unlike today Strength in depth. Man United have a thin squad as far as quality goes. They lose a couple of key players - two of Rooney, Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, Ferdinand, Neville, for example - and they've no real quality replacements. Look at their typical bench - John O'Shea for gods sakes! Chelsea lose five quality players and they just replace them with five other quality players. Man U just doesn't have the squad. Chelsea do. That's why the money is still on Chelsea - they have the squad they need, Man U's squad will fall short at some point. I think he will go on to achieve good things at West Ham As do I. Is this good thing Mid-table solidarity for the next ten years? He's named as a great Manager, as I think he is. But when will he finally get higher up the table with a club? Now that he's back in a job in the Premiership. He did well at Charlton - look where they are now without him. With a bit of financial muscle and a club with more history of success and he'll be able to push on higher than he's got before.
