Flynny Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 Going after the world cup. Hope a new coach doesn't royally balls the test side up whilst trying to build an effective ODI side. Probably the right decision though. The 'shelf life' comments were right.
Sods Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 good : : see you later fletch thanks for the ashes but you took us too far
Geo V Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 He has done get a great job for us in Test cricket bar last summer so the next person must take us on a level. I was listening to the squinter aka Nasser Hussain earlier and he makes soem graet points about county cricket. He was saying that Fletcher was sick and tired of calling players up and having to train them up on the basics. An example was Monty not being able to do basic fielding and batting until Fletch got hold of him. Its a good point IMO. The standards of coaching at county level must be shite as we dont seem to produce players and always end up having to nick South African players
Leicfox Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 Longer term, he'll be remembered as one of our better coaches. Shame we have had to put up with such a shite last 6 months The turning point was the loss of Troy Cooley, the bowling coach. He had Harmison, Flintoff, Hoggard and Jones carrying a threat. Short sightedness by the ECB lost us this bloke. I hope they are bold in appointing Fletcher's successor, and see fit to replace the muppets in the England coaching set-up, such as Kevin Shine.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 Bookies early favourites are Tom Moody and Dav Whatmore, both would do a very good job with England IMO.

I'd be worried about the progression of the test side should Moody get involved. What about someone like Nasser Hussain, shite captain but talks plenty of sense these days.
Joe. Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 He was always going to go. He didn't have any backing from the fans and it couldn't go on forever.
Daggers Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 Shame he had to contend with injuries, mental breakdowns and mindless alcohol-fuelled antics. Here's hoping we can look forward to a great summer of cricket.
Geo V Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 Tom Moody would be great as he is an Aussie isnt he? Imagine them during the ashes FFS!
