Here is the official run down on Stephen Hughes.

Came onto the scene up here under the watch of Dick Advocaat. Advocaat at the time said that Hughes would be a much better player than Barry ferguson and Indications of the young boys play, grit and determination showed that this was a very valid statement. Hughes had some great games under Advocaat, played in the champs league and won various MOTM awards playing against some really good teams such as Feyenoord.

McLeish came to Rangers and suddenly Hughes fell out of favour. Mcleish had already got rid of a few promising young players such as Steven McLean who now plays at Sheffield Wednesday. IMO when Hughes did get a game Mcleish played him in the wrong position. The young boy was always a very good attacking midfielder but McLeish soon had him operating as a defensive midfielder, not allowing him to show his full potential as an attacking player. Whenever he did play as an attacking player he scored goals, sometimes crucial goals for Rangers to scrape them through games.

So to sum everything up, You have got a very good technically gifted player for a small sum of money. He will always give you 100% as he did for us and I am happy for the young lad to move to a big club like Leicester, away from McLeish and able to play a part in getting you guys back to where you belong, In the Premiership.

Best of luck Shug (You'll be missed) and Leicester.
