Sheffield United have unveiled former England captain Bryan Robson as the club's new manager.

Robson, 50, takes over from Neil Warnock in the Bramall Lane hotseat only nine days after the Blades were relegated from the Premiership.

"I'm delighted to take the position," he said. "We've got a good squad and if we can fine tune it a bit, we can get back to the Premiership."

Brian Kidd moves up from his role as coach to become assistant to Robson.

Daft apointment if you ask me they want to get back up and build on what they already have so they apoint a three times failed manager, with a win rate of 23% in his last job... good move!:rolleyes:

The likes of Coleman, Davies or Grayson would all recomend themselves so far ahead of Robson... but perhaps they were missing the Championship and fancy a prolonged stay.

Lets all lauh at Sheff U!!

Shoccking appointment.

Let us not laugh, it could all to easily have been us. :pinch:

Let's be thankful for Sheffield United removing from the production line a truly shocking manager.

Has anyone noticed how his record as a manager has got worse as time goes by?

With some luck, he'll manage like a 19% win ratio at Sheffield. lol

Dont think he is the best appointment for them with the current selection out of jobs. Bryan Robson pah!

We can reflect now maybe Neil Warnock wasn't quite right for our Premiership ambitions

Blades chairman Kevin McCabe

Thats rather interesting.

To say they're not very enthusiastic about this appointment on 606 would be an understatement.

Is bryan that right man to get you promoted? NO

-----

"There was no consenus about the perfect manager for the Blades."

That is true. However, can you name a worse appointment? I seriously cannot think of one. I mean Peter Reid is awful but is surely better. Dave Basset has won countless promotions. Bryan Robson has ruined countless football establishments.

-----

I think he will be a disaster for you, and that Warnock did a brilliant job for you and you will miss him.

Still, 6 points for PNE next season!

-----

Robson : the lights are on but theres no one in.

-----

As a Arsenal I have to say unlucky. lol relegated with three clubs.

-----

Robson is a prat. No chance of getting up Sheffield.

-----

Are the Sheffield United board out of their minds?

-----

This a great appointment for the Blades.

Signed,

A Wednesday fan

-----

Me thinks you lot coming down to the Might league 1 with Forest and Leeds. :o [Written by a bloke called forest_] lol

-----

The man is a disaster. His win rate is normally about 25%. That wont win promotion.

-----

He was a great player, but has been a poor manager, i doubt he will be able to keep them up, and will be sacked by feb

-----

I'm completly gutted about having Robson appointed. Our chances of being promoted have just been halved.

-----

Can I just say how delighted I am with this appointment. (As are most other Wednesday fans)

And so on and so forth... United fans gloomy, rival clubs jubilant. lol

I quite like Bryan Robson.

I actually think he'll do ok. Not sure his comments about Shef Utd being a sustained top 10 prem club under his leadership will emerge to be true.

Agreed, Robson will do alright there, I would be surprised if he doesn't lead them to the play-offs at least.
