Thracian Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 If standing was brought back, would you stand up Thracian ? I certainly see no reason why standing shouldn't be brought back in certain areas of the ground. It would be brought back tomorrow if I had my way. Whether I'd choose to stand would depend on my mood and how I was feeling. Sometimes having stood for perhaps seven hours at a market before a game I'm fairly glad of a seat when the football starts. Other times, on the rare occasions the football is really rousing or really important I want to stand, shout and sing with the best of em. I loved it with Jamie's lot at home against Coventry, and at Barnsley, Preston, Accrington even the local interest friendly against Quorn. All five felt like almost old fashioned football outings with lots of passion and involvement. But too often the games seem sterile and I find I just can't be bothered - like QPR, Burnley away last season, even forest though I know a good few got involved. Truthfully I don't think the atmosphere will ever quite return to what it used to be - financial pressures have sucked joy from the game as fast as the authorities in their different ways. And if the authorities (football/police/local councils) really don't want standing back expect a whole series of accidents in grounds being reported. Or specific ones being highlighted. It's a standard tactic. Same when the authorities want new dangerous dogs laws - all of a sudden there's alsations and rottweilers tearing into people everywhere. Never poodles. And once the laws are passed suddenly the alsations and rottweilers go docile again. Media manipulation. Marvellous thing.

Very true, some games its really hard to create a good atmosphere just souless and even with standing doesn't open you're mouth for you and sing. Saying that i did think the N block was very good for standing and singing and wished it would have keep going but the club soon stamped it out like every good thing what happens here. Why couldn't they just turned a blind eye wasn't hurting anyone was it ? I see Milan never said nothing on the subject aswell even though he let portsmouth fans stand up all the time.
