Simi Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Captain's CommentsPosted on: Fri 26 Oct 2007 City skipper Stephen Clemence looks ahead to Saturday afternoon's game. As players of this football club, we find ourselves in a similar strange situation to the one we were in about six weeks ago. We are again without a permanent manager after Gary Megson decided that his future lay elsewhere and was granted permission by our chairman to speak to Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday evening. I enjoyed working with Gary during his short spell here as did the rest of the players and although we didn't win as many games as he would have liked, we certainly looked more solid and as a result proved to be a hard team to beat. I believe he had set us on the right road but Gary has now gone; we have since spoken to the chairman, and remain determined to do our very best for this football club and are 100 per cent behind Frank, Taggs and the rest of the team in the interim. While we have all experienced a rollercoaster start to the season, as a football club there is no time to dwell and we have to move forward and begin winning games on a regular basis whoever is in charge. No one individual is bigger than Leicester City. We will continue to get on with our jobs and let our football do the talking because our own reputations are on the line as well. There's no denying the fact that we'll have to prove ourselves for a third time when a new manager is eventually appointed but we are simply focusing on the job in hand and that starts against Barnsley on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, I'll be watching from the stands after tearing my left hamstring during the first half of the 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Tuesday night. It's hugely frustrating for me after only returning to the starting line-up at S****horpe after recovering from a calf tear picked up in the 1-1 draw against Stoke last month. I was feeling good during the first 10 minutes of the game in midweek but as I went to close one of their players down and changed direction, I felt a pop. I tried to run it off but my whole hamstring had tightened and there was no way I could have continued. That's why you saw me lying motionless in the centre-circle! I had a scan on Wednesday and that revealed a 9cm bleed which, according to our Head Physio Dave Rennie, is a grade one tear. On a brighter note, apparently that's the lightest possible tear so I'm hoping to be back in action within three weeks. But whilst I won't be able to help the lads on the pitch over the next few games, as club captain I'll be doing everything in my power off the field to support them and push them on. There's no shying away from the fact that the last three months have been very difficult for everyone and I've never ever experienced anything like this before during my career but it is vital that we put this latest setback behind us and kick on together. We do not want this season to be a right-off before it has even properly started so let's get behind each other and try and achieve something. At the end of the day there are still 35 league matches remaining this term and I can promise you that as players, there will be no let-up from ourselves as we strive for success. I know I keep saying it but as fans of this football club, you have a big part to play and it is during times of unrest like now that we need you more than ever. Of course you are going to be disappointed and frustrated as we all are because this club deserves to be back in the Premier League. But we will only achieve this goal if we stick together and remain positive. The lads are desperate to win on Saturday so please back them to the hilt. Enjoy the game. Clem He's out for three weeks sadly, but nice to have a player actually address the situation properly.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 That sounded very intellecutually articulate, did he actually write that? Intellectually articulate!! Talk about words for the sake of it, christ alive.
Simon Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 That sounded very intellecutually articulate, did he actually write that? Probably- he said 'right-off' instead off 'write-off'. Sounds like he's got his head screwed on though, which is exactly what we need at this time.
