davieG Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I think these are more american..but what are they?I know they're something close to engineering or something like that Draughting or Drafting (American) is drawing it could be Engineering but equally something like architecture. I did Engineering drawing as part of my apprenticeship, the main tools were the Drawing board, T-Square, Ruler, Compasses and rubber (very useful for a young man ). These days it's all done using CAD, Computer Aided Draughting/Design which merges into computer graphics using 3D CAD. Unless I've completely misunderstood your question
Matt Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I did abit on my apprenticeship, but it was just mainly for the written part of the course and to learn what joints, cross-sections, e.t.c looked like, and get a grasp of drawings to be manufactured. It's something i'd like to get into myself, and at our company the draftsperson(s) get away with murder, almost everything is drawn wrong and when we make it to the drawing it "our" fault, never the person who drew/designed it. It does interest me, but at the same time, i've never been that good academically and better using my hands to make the stuff. What is good is the CNC machine, Drawn on the CAD and then routered out on the CNC - Makes a life alot easier - Unless it drawn/designed wrong in first place obviously.
