Marion Jones ex multi Olympic champion admits taking drungs and cheating. Professional tennis rife with allegations of drugs, gambling and poisoned opponents. Formula one shamed by spying scandals. Athletics experts claiming illegal drug use is the norm rather than an exception. Horse racing's fragile reputation damaged further by more race fixing allegations. Cricket scandals in South Africa in past years showing matches were fixed on behalf of betting syndicates. Bruce Grobbelar, Fashanu and Segers, tarnished football's image. Robert Hoyzer German Bundes Liga referee jailed for his involvement in a betting-match fixing ring. Tour de France and professional cycling riddled with illegal drug use and race winners exposed as cheats. Should I really be surprised, shocked and dissapointed that so many major professional sports are now being shown up to be less than clean? Would I be considered to be living in denial to believe for a second that winning clean and fair is the only way for achieving success in your sport to feel right? Is professional sport now just all about the money, and the competition is just a means to an end or are many of the people who cheat just so desperate to win they will use any means?
