1 Place a layer of charcoal (lump wood or briquettes) on the grate. Build it up into a pyramid shaped pile.

2 Light, using fire lighters, following the instructions on the pack.

3 The barbecue will be ready for use in about 30 to 40 minutes, when all flames and smoke have died down and the charcoal is covered by an even layer of grey ash. At this point, spread the charcoal evenly across the grate. Add more charcoal if required.

4 Grease the cooking grill to prevent stick.
