Ultra Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 It wasn't that season. The home game with Oldham was 0-0 and the gate was 11848 (they were league leaders at the time and eventual champions). The only game we lost 3-1 at home in 90-91 was against Blackburn, the game that finally forced the board to hand Pleat a P45.

The fact that we had a couple thousand fans standing outside the main stand screaming "Pleat out" might have helped in their decision
Ultra Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 True. Many of those fans also went on the rampage through town afterwards. Had he stayed any longer, I think we'd definitely have gone down that season.
Smiffy Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Wasn't on any rampage that day, but I was grateful for Gordon Lee that season.
Guest Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 We were talking about this the other day. The fact that we could lose a game 5-4 after being 4-1 up and all that. I would say my main thing was that back then I always thought with the right manager we had players with potential, whereas now we have shite players any manager would struggle with.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Well there are 3-4 players that will be fondly remembered by fans from those years - Walsh (Legend), Mauchlen, Wright, Mills (one of the best right backs we ever had imho) and what wouldn't we give for a super-sub like Rooster? I don't think any of our current crop will be remembered fondly... maybe Hume and Kisnorbo, but more for their effort than their ability.
