davieG Posted 5 March 2008 Author Posted 5 March 2008 Come Saturday Ollie will recruited 10 players Alnwick; Clapham; Oakley; Bori; Howard; Hayles; Laczko; Hendrie Etuhu and in effect McAuley. This is his team/squad!
Zingari Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 brizzle are in for a right thrashing if we beat them with the crap he inherited, just think what all his improvements will do
Manager Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 This is his team/squad! It is difficult to remain silent when Ollie spends so much time inventing quotable quotes for a living. This trait is a luxury that Ollie cannot afford - especially when he continues to turn reasonable Championship Pro footballers into hoofers with unerring consistency. Does anyone think he has a plan that goes beyond 'unlucky', 'bad ref', 'bad pitch', 'bad offside decision', etc? What does he do with them from Saturday to Saturday? - Does he know his best home/away formation? - Does he know his best players? - Does he know what he wants each player to do (and do they know)? - Does he re-think his options after every defeat/bad performance and start again or has he a philosophy that guides his decisions - a sort of master plan we are working towards? Just thought I would get that off my huge chest (!) - I would never consider suggesting that Ollie should leave of course - he is the saviour . . .

Whenever I hear a Holloway team pre-kick-off I invariably think "we don't have enough to score the goals necessary." Okay, sometimes the defence returns with a clean sheet but we historically concede one a game and I never feel we carry enough ammo to score two often enough. There's always:- Lack of pace/penetration from the flanks. Lack of support from central midfield Too few potential scorers. Holloway seems to pick his team based on ancient history rather than by choosing players who can fulfill the requirements. The requirements are simple and comprise a Holy Trinity. Preventing goals. Creating Goals. Scoring Goals. We have too many players who have too little effect on any of those things.
