This is very much Ollie's Team now!

No more excuses please this is as much Ollie's team as it could be and in some cases have cost good money for the league we are in. Very few managers joining a club would want to replace every player, yesterday's squad included 7 of his signing 8 if we now include McAuley with his new contract that is pretty hefty percentage;

Alnwick; Clapham; Oakley; Bori; Howard; Hayles; Laczko; McAuley

In addition we have 3 players he didn't sign but who have had an impact on teams getting promoted from this league - Chambers; Clemence; Campbell

Leaving us with Kisnorbo an Australian International; Hume a Canadian international and Fryatt of those who actually played a part.

How many managers in this league have that choice. Now if he can't motivate them and define suitable tactics against a team that he knew fairly well but who had also lost some key players as well as being bottom of the form league and playing away then he needs to take one really long look at himself and see who is really lacking.

Not that I make any excuses for the total lack of basic skills from the players

I no longer want to hear from him that this is not my team.

:appl: Thank you but I bet some P*ick will still come along and say no it's not, it's not his fault, blah blah blah.

Maybe they need some time to gell :dunno:

Maybe! but that's no excuse for the piss poor tactics, team selection, lack of motivation and commitment, the inability to pass the ball, looking like you don't want to receive the ball, hoofing the ball, the inability to take successful throw-ins. In fact all the basics of playing football we seem incapable of doing.

Seems reasonably clear that Ollie had a problem playing against Plymouth. The mind games worked, we were defeated off the pitch. Other than that you are right. Ollie has the remainder of the season to show that:

1) He understands the players he has, how he wants them to play and who his best team is.

2) He can motivate the whole squad to fight for their place.

3) He can get them playing as a team.

when is he going to start :dunno:

I think that he gets so full of himself sometimes, tactics, style of play and even the fact we've got a side low on confidence goes to the back of his mind. Instead of craving sympathy he should sort himself out and the players.

Totally agree. This is not me calling for his sacking yet, because I won't do that for many months. I am however going to start putting more blame on him and the new players for performances like that. People will argue he hasn' t had enough time BUT I'm not looking for miracles here, we are looking for basic errors which need addressing. It's strange because whenever I hear Ollie in interviews he always fills me with confidence that he knows these problems and will change them, i.e playing square pegs in square holes, yet he continues to play 2 strikers there. He says about playing attacking football using the wingers and having cross after cross flying in, 'It ain't rocket science' he said!! No it's not, so why are we still seeing these problems, why also, are our players set on hoof ball. Does Holloway encourage this, and if not why are his players not listening to him!?

Ok the fact is, he has now had 3 months with the players, shipped out a few, brought in, in my opinion, some real quality. He says all the right stuff in interviews and assessments of the team and performances. SO what is going wrong??? He is known for his passion, yet we play with none. I really did think Ollie was a step in the right direction for us and he certainly talks a good game, but where are the performances to match??

3months may not be a long-time, but we are not seeing even little glympes of a successful team yet. We look good on paper, but it is a totally different story on the pitch.

I really am concerned, not about relegation, more so that I thought Manderic has done the right things, the same things I would have done as a Chairman, i.e bought in a passionate, attacking manager, and backed him with money in the window. YET we have just lost to Blackpool and Plymouth, and are 3 points above relegation.

At the moment, I feel flat and tired. Tired of how we continue to fail, even when we have less and less reasons to do so. Holloway needs to start making some changes here, and start practicing what he preaches. The players also need to remember how to fight and attack games with passion and determination. I'm sick and tired of excuses, especially now, as we have very few. It's time for Ollie and his players to shut-up off the field and start fighting on it!!!

That is a fantastic post. Agree with pretty much every word.

One thing Ollie said on Monday's RL phone in Howard and Hayles weren't bought to play together... SO WHY START WITH THEM THEN!!!??? :(

Posted
I'm still scratching my head as to why he actually spent money on Barry sodding Hayles, it's appalling that he gets a starting berth ahead of Campbell and Fryatt.

Adams with Scowcroft

Levein with De Vries

You get the idea.

Yes, someone else agrees. :D

Holloway has to be under pressure now, no longer can he use the excuse that he is still playing with someone elses side. Let's remember, he is the one implementing the horrible tactics and style of play yesterday - if your going to play like that at least win!

Ollie was moaning about how we need wingers to put crosses in to get goals, saying how simple it was. So he takes Bori off who in my opinion was the best player of the first half, while Hayles and Hume were by far the worst. All Ollie had to do was take Hayles off for Zsolt and bring Campbell on for Hume at half time. He virtually put us out of the game, there were strikers all over the place, the team looked unbalanced and had no width. He bought Zsolt on and if you watch him he actually gets out on the wing and stands in 25 yards of space, yet for some reason no one was passing to Zsolt in the space, they kept hoofing it up the right wing to Hume who puts effort in but doesn't really do anything to help the team, and the swarm of other players that were on the right hand side.

Ollie talks the talk in his interviews, saying how easy football is and all you need is wingers and balance, to cross the ball in then you get goals, yet he seems to do the opposite of what he says in the games and just ruins it for us.

When he took Bori off for Campbell at half time, keeping Hayles and Hume on, i just thought, this guy is fooking clueless.

If he had bought Zsolt on for Hayles and Campbell on for Hume at half time, leaving a team with balance and wingers, this team,

Alnwick

Clapham

Kisnorbo

Mc Auley

Chambers

Bori

Zsolt

Oakley

Clemence

Campbell

Howard

We would have won that match.

I also thought Clemence was awful and has been pretty shit every match ive seen him. Time to drop Hayles, Hume and Clemence. Wheres Wesolowski? Wheres King? I even found myself saying wheres Hammond? i wish they were on the bench. When the fans starting singing for Fatty Fryatt you know we are in deep trouble.

At least Scowcroft scored a decent amount of goals and was part of a successful side. Bringing Hayles in to solve our problems was never going to be a solution, the rest of the league must have been laughing at us, they still are.

Taylor with Akinbiyi, Lewis, Benjamin, Wise etc.

Kelly with (Blimey I've already forgotten the Kelly team... )

If McAuley scored I bet half of this wouldn't be said.

SACK HOLLOWAY NOW!

I have never seen such a ridiculous shambles- I am a 53 year old, whos been going to see the Foxes since I was about 5 so I am pretty well qualified to talk about them. The way we are playing football is a disgrace- shambolic! Holloway needs to stop all his media nonsence and concentrate on trying to win football matches. He left Plymouth in a mess, QPR in a mess, Bristol Rovers in administration and now he is taking us DOWN!

Sort it out now MILAN

Yes because we would have been delighted with a scrappy draw at home against Plymouth.

And football is full of 'ifs', what if Leicester hadn't have dropped so many points in the Premiership, where would we be? What if we we hadn't conceded late against Palace, Charlton, Blackpool etc... we would be higher up but the league table doesn't lie.

Quite agree. Like I said last night, Ollie let us down last night. The lineup was wrong, the subs were wrong, the mentality was wrong. He got it badly wrong and having brought all this conflict with Plymouth to us he let us down badly. And as others have said this is not an Ollie out thing. It is us saying "We want our manager to do better".

He left Plymouth in a mess? Erm...

I'd still be saying the same thing because although the result was bad the performance was worse because it gives one no hope that things are improving.

Sorry Zsolt not in terms of league position but in disrupting the squad and the playing side of things and possibly the timing of his leaving. Looking in from the outside had he left them fine surely they wouldnt have slipped down the table as they have.

I think their chairman may have a point.

It's easy, and all too convenient, to put a negative spin on the situation at Plymouth and make it all sound like Ollie's fault.

A more probable interpretation would be that they had a number of players who were unhappy at Plymouth and Ollie tried his best to keep the team together with little or no support from the Chairman.
