Guest Posted 18 March 2005 Posted 18 March 2005 It doesn't matter what I think, the Government will be persuaded by the Police that effective management of crowds at football matches is through the use of seating.
Fox in a Box Posted 18 March 2005 Posted 18 March 2005 The justice taylor report, please read it before making any rational decisions!
Scow Posted 18 March 2005 Posted 18 March 2005 It won't happen I'm afraid. There would have to be a judical review of the Taylor Report for any type of standing to be adopted. Could be a lengthy process, one which the government will not want to undertake.

Frankly if fans want standing areas this is one of the few avenues open. <_< For myself, as I am so old now I much prefer some comfortable seating.

It can be a long process that often doesn't lead to any change!
BartonFox Posted 18 March 2005 Posted 18 March 2005 They seem to manage safely enough in Germany though don't they? Hillsborough was the most devestating thing I can ever think of at a football game but it wasn't caused by the terracing or even the fencing. If the FA and Police hadn't been so incompetant, cock-sure and arrogant on their policies and the Liverpool fans without tickets had stayed away it would have been avoided. I would imagine that the re-introducing of standing would be made out as a very cost prohibitive to Clubs. You can imagine some structural engineer saying the Walkers was build for sitting and they couldn't be sure that 5,000 people standing up could support their weight. Or something equally as lame. Would welcome back standing, but it'll never happen. Politicians reversing major decisions :w00t:
D4 Posted 18 March 2005 Posted 18 March 2005 Do you think that dedicated safe standing areas, should be introduced at the Walkers ? r u on crack cocaine
