Wellman Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 Thats the amount that went last night to Upton Park. I wasn't really surprised with that number for several reasons. The game was meant to be today (saturday), so that's most probably why we had little number of supporters. It didn't really help that the game was on sky either because most fans would of stayed home and watched it, can't blame you though. BUT we took 7,000 to Blackburn just 6 days ago so why have we dropped so many fans in 6 days!!!! Work, Sky, Friday night, that's probably why but atleast the people that were there made as much noise as possibly and got behind the lads. A nice 2 week break now, we'll be alright after last nighjts performance and can't really see us going down, *HE SAYS!!!*
davieG Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 Money? 4 away games in 10 days takes its toll on the fans as well as the players.

The main reseaon is the money factor, on television and was meant to be on a saturday! Most people are working, I'm just saying though
davieG Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 That's fine I'm not arguing with you or disagreeing with your sentiments just adding to your list of extenuating factors. Travel wise it's worse than that at 2 home games out of 11 since January 22nd.
Durnerz Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 I was going to go, had the money and everything, but couldnt finish work early enough. I love away games, best atmospheres, my respect goes to those 620 last night who made the trip, could hear you above the morgue that was West Hams following.
Guest Posted 19 March 2005 Posted 19 March 2005 It is disappoining that people put out all the stops for the 'big' games, and yet the bread and butter games, where we desparately need points we don't get the following. This morning, as we drove back from London Village, we passed over 20 coaches from West Bromwich on their way to Charlton. Fantasti support, despite teir position, I thought. Having said that, I've been unable to afford to go games, unable to get time off of work etc. Surely not all of the 6,000+ who went to Blackburn but didn't go last night are skint or whatever?

I agree that our support was a little disappointing considering how everyone was saying what fantastic supporters we are for taking 7,000 up to Blackburn. I think the fact that it was on Friday night and on TV meant that a lot of people just didn't fancy the long trip down...although I do appreciate that a lot of people wouldn't have been able to take time off work, afford it etc.
Scow Posted 20 March 2005 Posted 20 March 2005 I'm not surprised. We probably had less going to Burnley/Watford previously, but no one has highlighted that. I think our support is piss poor - Let's all go Blackburn because we have a chance of success, who gives a shit about the rest of the time? I understand a lot of people can't make it to away most games due to various circumstances, but the fans who make their decision based on how well we're performing and the position we're in piss me off immensley.
Muz Posted 20 March 2005 Posted 20 March 2005 I admire people that go home and away regardless how we are playing and regardless our position. I have a ST and have had for the past 8 years If i lived in Leicester and had easy access to Fox Travel i would attend every away game. I have explained before why i cant go to the southern away games. Mostly it is because my uncle has a smalll child and he does not want to leave him all the time. And i cant get to Leicester if that happens. This season i have been to about 10 away games. Which i consider aint bad.

Everyone does there own little bit to support the club. Not everyone can afford to go home and away every week and other people have family commitements and other things like that. We can't all be there week in week out, but without the people that do (scowy, teeno, ash etc) to name a few off this forum alone, we would be in a mess because with no away support the results would be shite.
Guest Posted 20 March 2005 Posted 20 March 2005 No-one is asking people to justify why they can't get to games, Muz, as I said, people do have legitimate reasons for not going. It's all those who went to Blackburn, yet have no intention of attending so-called 'lesser' games that annoy me. Given our current position, no game is any more or less significant than any other, and the team needs our support then, not just because we have a sniff of glory.
davieG Posted 20 March 2005 Posted 20 March 2005 On theother hand a lot of people on here enjoyed the reflected glory of have 7000 fans going to Blackburn, even if it was a one off. If you took away all the so called glory hunters you'd have had little to brag about.

I told the OH as we walked to the ground that it was a shame a few moe of these people couldn't motivate themselves up enough for our other games.
Ash Posted 20 March 2005 Posted 20 March 2005 I couldn't afford to go to the West Ham game , or else i would of gone.
foxilescom Posted 20 March 2005 Posted 20 March 2005 Hi., Midweek games have to be harder to get to for fans instead of saturday games. Factors like work and family commitments must come into it. From my point of view living in the North, London games would always be hard for me to get to, midweek, which effectively a Friday night game is, makes it impossibe. I have the greatest of respect to those of you that manage to get to the majority of away games. I am hoping that Sunderland away remains on a Saturday as that will make it better than a Friday night game. Could be a good game that, Hopefully we might be safe by then and they will be in the final run in for the title. I fear though that Sky may get involved in this one though. Keith H, foxiles.com
